Brake lite

I have a Willwood adj. prop valve. When I hook up the brake light switch it does just that lights the brake light.

How do I make it work right? Shoot what is right? What does it meen when the brake light is on and the parking brake isn't.

Re: Brake lite

It means the internal switch is tripped. Hook the brake up and press the pedal really hard, light should go off.

Re: Brake lite

Still no ideas how to fix it. I don't have any issues except the lite.
I fixed everything else. It used to come on only when I braked. There was a problem with axle movement. I fix that now the lite is on all the time.

Re: Brake lite

I found out why it is on all the time. The 2 lugs were touching but now the brake lite comes on only when the peddle is applyed.

So it comes in because of a differential in pressure between the front to back?

Re: Brake lite

The switch in the Wilwood proportioning valve is for the rear brake lights, not the dash light.

Re: Brake lite

Really Bob? I feel real stupid but the instructions are poor. So there is no break light switch. Was wondering why there are 2 spades off the back of the switch. I hooked up the wire and grounded the other.

You aren't the only one that has made this mistake, I've seen it on other forums. As for a pressure differential switch, there isn't one on the Wilwood proportioning valve.

Next time the brakes need to be bled I'd remove the switch and replace it with a pipe plug. It is a 1/8" - 27 NPT thread.
