Drilled and slotted rotor question.
Drilled and sloted rotors or just go with stock. I just got back from looking at them. Going on a street driver. If you have them can you tell the difference with them over stock rotors?

Re: Drilled and slotted rotor question.
You DON'T want drilled. Here's why.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...aer-brake.html
Slotted good; drilled BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD. The only reason they are still made is to sell to people who demand em because they don't know any better and think that since certain race cars have em they "must be" good, or for the "looks". They are NOT good on the street.
I'd recommend Powerstop brand. For example http://www.brakewarehouse.com/brake_...p_Brake_Rotors.

Quotes a GM Engineers report saying drilled rotors are significantly better:

And how do you know that the reason they do it is because BUYERS DEMAND IT, and not ANYTHING related to EFFECTIVENESS?

Sure... and how many miles do you suppose those rotors are good for, before they crack around the holes?
And how do you know that the reason they do it is because BUYERS DEMAND IT, and not ANYTHING related to EFFECTIVENESS?
I notice there's not ONE SINGLE WORD in all of that about longevity.

chamfering holes has stopped cracking..you get what you pay for nowdays..get cheap rotors..and keep an eye on them..buy good parts..and you should keep an eye on them anyway..
longevity?..buy a Toyota..
hot rodding...the brakes will last longer then the tires...will..you cant have both..or its not fast!

All joking aside...nothing will last when ya put more force on it....sport driving compared to humdrum daily driving.

Re: Drilled and slotted rotor question.
Porches, Ferraris, Lambos etc all seem to use slotted and/or drilled disks, so there must be a reason for this beyond looking cool.

Re: Drilled and slotted rotor question.
I think you would be fine with stock rotors I've had them on few different vehicles and noticed no difference besides the price tag on the slotted vs stock rotors just my

Re: Drilled and slotted rotor question.
until you drive with them in a way they are meant to be used you probably wouldn't notice a difference...thats the point..

Re: Drilled and slotted rotor question.
The price difference between plain and drilled/slotted rotors was something like $50 when I did the LS1 front disk upgrade, and none of us would worry about spending that sort of cash for nice cosmetics.

Re: Drilled and slotted rotor question.
Normal driving I don't feel a differance. However, in wet weather I notice a huge difference over non-slotted rotors. Not a fan of drilled.
