Trying to piece together a ss/CTS-V brake setup, a couple questions.
I'm trying to piece together a setup for a pair of CTS-V calipers (4 piston) I got for a steal and have a question.
So everywhere I read I'm seeing that the C6 Z06 rotors aren't quite appropriate for the conversion because they have pad overhang. Instead, I want to use CTS-V rotors, but they require hub register enlargement to 2.78". I'd rather not have to pay to have the rotors enlarged.
Now, flynebye sells a conversion hub for a Camaro SS setup which allows a stock rotor to mount up, so I'm assuming its the same as the rest of the conversion hubs but it has a smaller hub diameter. My question is can I still use CTS-V calipers and brackets with the Camaro SS rotors and hubs?
Re: Trying to piece together a ss/CTS-V brake setup, a couple questions.
Enlarging would mean welding and lathing. Better to just order a set of those nylon hubcentric rings. Or spend a little more and order aluminum. If you plan to race to the point of the rotors glowing red from the heat, then definitely get aluminum. But for daily commuting and occasional canyon blasting, nylon is okay.
Re: Trying to piece together a ss/CTS-V brake setup, a couple questions.
I'll try and contact flynebye and see what's up with the SS hubs, but I'm a little hesitant since most people say he doesn't respond. I'll let you guys know what he says just in case.
I might be leaning towards a Wilwood 4 piston setup instead. I'm running 17" wheels and I'm not sure I want to swap wheels. The brembo's are definitely better, but I'm not sure I can justify needing them in the future (ls swap one day) enough to get new wheels.

Yes, the diameter is smaller. I cannot give you the exact number. I plan to run the 2011 SS brembos with BigBrakeUpgrade aka Scott's LS1 hub.
I also have BrakeMotive 2011 drilled/slotted rotors + pads (using camaro rotors, CTS is 6 lug i think).
Rather than opening the rotor hat, I am having the hub turned down a bit. This way I will not have to bring every set of rotors I buy to a machine shop. I am converting my rear as well, so I may end up doing this to my axles too. My machinist said that he is able to change my wheel studs to the 2011 size too, but I have not gotten that far.
I will try to mock everything up and take some pix for you when I get home.
