Re: whos using wilwood master cylinder?

if the bore size is the same as stock, there is no benefit to using it over a production piece other than having a little eye candy under the hood.

Re: whos using wilwood master cylinder?

What is the stock bore size? I was looking at getting one of the Baer Remaster kits. Might not be much (if anything) over stock, but they do look really cool.

Re: whos using wilwood master cylinder?

stock is like 24mm (1") is a close match.. they look better. and why not..
should be just a bolt in.. with a small hitch in the brake line.. metric to SAE

A simple adapter should be able to fix that, correct?

The stock M/C fittings are as follows:

Front port Size: M12 x 1 bubble flare
Rear port Size: M11 x 1.5 bubble flare

I'm sure Wilwood has their M/C fitting sizes on their website.

RBob.

Re: whos using wilwood master cylinder?

Thing to note here is that the Wilwood master cylinder will be mounted at an angle when using the stock F-body power vacuum booster and bracket. The Wilwood master cylinder has two reservoirs built into its billet master cylinders with a hole drilled between the two reservoirs to equalize the brake fluid levels. The hole is drilled at the bottom of the reservoirs. Because the hole is at the bottom, the fluid will siphon from the front reservoir to the rear because of the angle that the master cylinder is sitting when mounted to the vacuum booster. If you want to use this master cylinder, this hole will have to be tapped and plugged to keep the brake fluid from siphoning all of the fluid in the front reservoir to the rear reservoir.

What is the part number for the NAPA adapters? I also thought there were no adapters to mate the Wilwood master cylinder to the stock brake lines that came out of the stock master cylinder. Another alternative to use adapters that will mate non metric, standard lines to the Wilwood master cylinder. If you still have your stock prop valve, you can easily bend lines from the Wilwood master cylinder to the stock prop valve with the correct adapters.

The lines will have to mate up to 12x1.5 inlet on the proportioning valve for the rear brakes (front port on the proportioning valve) and 11x1.5 inlet on the proportioning valve for the front brakes (rear inlet port on the proportioning valve).

For the rear brake lines running from the front port of the master cylinder to the front port of the proportioning valve, use Edelmann part number 265000 installed in the front inlet port of the proportioning valve. Bend up a 20" hard line of 3/16" diameter tubing with 3/8-24 inch fittings. The hard line is Edelmann Part # 320PVF

For the front brake lines running from the rear port of the master cylinder to the rear port of the proportioning valve, use Edelmann part number 264000 installed in the rear inlet port of the proportioning valve. Bend up a 20" hard line of 3/16" diameter tubing with 3/8-24 inch fittings. The hard line is Edelmann Part # 320PVF

Here are the part numbers you need to mate the master cylinder with 3/8-24 inch outlets to a proportioning valve with 12x1 and 11x1.5 inlet sizes.

2 each of Edelmann Part # 320PVF - 20 inch long, 3/16 inch outside diameter tube with 3/8-24 inch fittings.

Edelmann Part # 265000 - 12x1 bubble flare male to 3/8-24-24 inch inverted flare female.

Edelmann Part # 264000 - 11x1.5 bubble flare male to 3/8-24 inch inverted flare female.

The Wilwood master cylinder should come with adapters that install in the master cylinder to reduce the 1/2-20 IF outlets to 3/8-24 IF to use the line with the 3/16" line with 3/8-24 fittings. But if they do not, BrakeQuip has the correct fitting that has a male 1/2-20 IF with a female 3/8-24 IF. Part number BQ120 should be the one to buy, but call BrakeQuip to double check.

If your front calipers are stock, from the factory, never been replaced, then they are low drag and will need to be replaced because they will not work with a normal, strait bore master cylinder. AFCO sell NEW stock replacement calipers. These part numbers are:

6635003
6635004
