Just installed these this afternoon and though you guys might want to see them. I weighted my old drums to compare to the new ones as well. It looks like they are about 4 pounds lighter each 8 total. Ordered these from Rock Auto for $207.57 with shipping.

Might wanna take em back off, quarter car wash em, and use some wheel clear-coat on em.

They'll turn somewhat funky looking pretty quick.

 

Sofakingdom is correct. Just got this picture on the net from a hot rod site. On the right are the aluminum drums without any protection.

Thanks for the idea of the clear for the drums. I will pull them this weekend. Do you have a recommendation on the clear paint?

Wheel clear coat. Not "clear paint". All the usual suspects carry it.

 

Even The good clear will probably turn yellow

 

That's the advantage of wheel clear coat. (one of the advantages, anyway)

 

I wonder if an exhaust manifold dressing would work? True, it's designed for iron, but it's also designed to create a barrier to oxidation on a cast surface.

Just paint 'em with some Dupli-color aluminum color engine paint. They'll look great for years and no one can tell they are painted...
