Reason: update
How about, just take your existing booster apart (or maybe even a new, or one with an otherwise known good diaphragm in it) and send the 2 housing halves off to yerbasic local shiny-thing guy? Only take acoupla minutes each way, tear-down and build-back. At least if you're slow like me, and stop for acoupla cold ones in the middle each way, and savor them lovingly. OTOH if you have enough self-control to delay that instant gratification for like 2 minutes, your drive-in to drive-out time could probably be measured in seconds instead of whole minutes.
I did look at taking one down and doing it (having it chromed) ..I might have to..as iv been looking for the better part of 4 years.. ill have to order one..and take it apart and see what I can remove..
have it done at the same time the heater box is getting done..

UP DATE.. found a place who rebuilds them..(In CA) they are sending me the master cylinder. and the booster.. taken apart .. so I can get them chrome plated and polished.. I then send it back to them.. for Reassembly.. then they ship it to me $170 for the unit after its together tested boxed up... so in the end I get a new Factory GM part. that's made for my car. the booster chromed.. and the master polished.. then I just reinstall ..sweet!
thanks for the Idea..parts ARE on the way!
this way my parts can go on a shelf when I remove them from the car.. like all the other Factory parts...its just a sawp.
THE place doing it sells to Rock Auto and others..and with the help from rock autos site..and 2 phone calls I have a ..factory GM rebuilt parts / AC Delco. booster..(chrome plated with polished master cylinder) keeping it simple..but nice looking..
my engs cam is to larg for eng vacuum .. but we did pick up a vac pump.. just for this...

booster is back..all set to bolt in when the bay is finished.. they set it up..then took it down (master off of booster) All I do is bolt it in..and bleed it.100% all new SS brake lines going on the car..front to back
and a few other parts as well
lol its going to be bright.(name it I chromed it or its polished).clean and bright..and with over 900hp on tap..and hitting the scales at under 3200lbs with me in the car..just a nice sunbday driver. looking for the Local Dodge Demon / hellcat boys. to play with... steet cars can be fun..
now to just get it bolted together!
heated work shop!..lol
looking forward to checking plugs! look at the Access..
remember anti freeze and chrome don't work well together.. start up and tune in will be with distilled water and pump lube only. all of the cooling system is aluminum with MLS head gaskets..so no rust.. drain petcocks on block and radiator.. to fill with antifreeze later on..

The trick to making chrome & stainless play nice with aluminum, is ZINC.
That's how it's done on boats: to keep the aluminum from getting devoured electrically by the other metals, sacrificial zinc anodes are placed strategically round the boat.
If you've ever had one of those "krome" water outlets to start leaking, and noticed that it had holes and divots mysteriously carved out of it that ultimately affected the sealing surface, you've experienced dissimilar-metal electrolysis. The zamac (cheeeeep chinesium-like cast zinc alloy) that the water outlet it made out of, protected the aluminum engine parts from corrosion, by sacrificing itself.
You'll want to include something zinc in your cooling system... preferably something that doesn't actually do anything. Maybe you can find a way to mount a boat zinc in some one of the water pump passages or something like that.
YES WILL HAVE ZINK IN A DRAIN PLUG. even with this set up as 100% of the coolant is in aluminum (just the T stat is SS)
Electrolysis is a bad one when anti freeze is mixed right with water Distilled. you would/should never have a problem ..I say this as I had my car locked away for over 8 years with 3 year old Antifreeze in it. after it dropped a rod.. the day I pulled the eng out the inside of the cooling system still looked brand new..not a single pit or drop of rust..that was with a cast iron block..
But the big thing with chrome parts..is Antifreeze DESTROYS the finish. If you get a leak (almost always when a eng is new) ya might get a leak from a hose..or a new part Failing ..that's why the start up with just the water with all the chrome on my car..it would suck!! to get all the stuff re chromed. It looks frosted when left on chrome for a few hrs.. (had a 1967 ford Fairlane GTA) 390 big block.. and did the same chrome monster.. the solder let go on the radiator.. and sprayed the eng... it did not end well..for the chrome parts...lucky for me I had a Buddy who had a chrome shop.. and paid to redo the stuff..dont want to do it a 2nd time..

Do you have any parts that are spray chromed? I have a crankshaft pulley that I'm welding a toothed wheel to and will probably have spray chromed. I've seen lots of opinions (no long term reviews) that speak wonders of the professional spray chrome applications.

have seen it...but no. I still have the old school step of parts getting polished then the Nickle..copper..chrome plating process..
have checked into having the plastic filler panel spray chromed..the place I called wanted $300 to do it...lol I came make one out of aluminum and have it polished for less..
you started this one...this shot shows it finished. still thinking of counter sinking the holes (cutting them)
there's still a few smaller parts going to be done.. but the plating is almost finished...

How much were you charged for the brake booster chroming?
What was the name or website of the place that has been doing your chroming?
The place I might go to is wanting $150 to do my pulley/toothed wheel piece and it seems a bit much.
this shot of chrome parts.. hood latch/spring/z bar..heater box...brake boosteGr..and polishing the master cylinder.. total out the door $650.
I take parts in in batches.. they are a 30 min drive from me one way..
not cheap..but ya do get a life time guarantee/warranty. on the chrome...

Parts look really good. Where did you get that radiator shroud cover panel? I assume you made it? Was hoping there was some secret shop out there selling ones that magically fit 3rd gens.

another member made it..I just Finished it..
was not a bad start.. just needed to have the welds worked out and a good buffing..
came out nice looking..at this point..I can have it remade/copied as a 1 piece unit.
idle hands...I remember a 67 cuda in a small town in OR.(pendelton). with a 426 hemi..and a chrome plated block and a 6-71 on it..the chrome plating was not the best..and the car well could have been better...painted blue inside and hugger orange outside..but I did like the chrome...back in 1984..
I came real close to having my aluminum block polished.....
was even going to do the A arms and K member.....who knows...If I get bored .
its so easy to just drop things off..and say..go ahead and plate this..if all the welding was done...it would be nexed
Fat Elvis...could get the Nick name Of Chromaro
