I bought a set of aftermarket "1le" backing plates for the rear about a year ago (88 iroc z with 9 bolt rear end). I installed them a couple months ago, and i recently did an oil change on the car. Once I had the car up in
the air I noticed one thing that I missed when I first swapped the PBR calipers for the iron type. The brake pads stick out further out past the rotor for about 2mm. You can see it or barely see it where the green arrow is pointing. I got these backing plates from hawksthirdgen thru ebay. I guess this is bad workmanship. Is there a company that makes better ones that anyone can recommend.
It's not really a big deal, I have seen factory applications like that.
If you must, Ed Miller is the only one I know that makes them, but he may be the supplier for Hawks. Hawks doesn't make most of the stuff they sell, they are just a re-supplier really. They buy from others and/or make agreements to sell products.
I actually have a set of Baer backing plates for a 10 bolt that I swapped left/right and re-drilled the backing plate for the 9 bolt pattern on my car.
