Repairing a front wheel hub stud?

Hello!

I was curious as to if it was possible to replace a single stud on the front rotor hub.

The brakes are good, but a stud got damaged during my date with the curb a few years ago. While trying to take the wheels off, one would refuse to come out, and it took a bit of convincing to do. Everything is still straight up front, however one stud needs to be replaced.

Is it possible to replace the stud?

Or would you guys suggest I just get a new rotor/hub/bearing and be done with it?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

Re: Repairing a front wheel hub stud?

Yup, quite easy. Just knock it out and pull a new one in. BFH to get it out, and a lug nut turned upside down and lots of grease on the threads to pull the new one in. Maybe acoupla washers under the nut if the new stud has an unthreaded section down at the very bottom like some do.

OTOH if your rotor isn't like-new out-of-the-box pristine, it'd probably be beneficial to just swap it out anyway.

The rotor is in surprisingly good shape.

At the present time, I am still trying to eliminate vibrations at high speeds, and currently the missing stud is one of the main potential culprits.
I pretty much tapped out my funds on this car getting the engine running semi properly, trying to save a few bucks at this point...
