Car: 92 Z28
Engine: 5.7 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 323's
92 Purple Haze
1992 Purple Haze T-Top Z28
All electric 5.7ltr v8
4 wheel disk brakes
700R4 overdrive transmission
not sure on the rear end (stock)
a/c and heater both work
Doors lock and car starts and drives.
Complete car. Registered in my name (expires in March next month) and passed inspection last October. (2011)
Just switched it over into my name last week so have around 3-4 days until I get title. (which is clean and clear)
Well I'm about to do what I didn't think I would. I just bought this Z28 (which I have always loved these 3rd gens) and now know I'm way over my head. It's a project and I knew that when I bought it. But after I got it home I realized it needs way more than I can give it and it's running so it doesn't need to just sit here and get lazy. (haha) I will explain honestly all I see, and know it needs but will miss something I'm sure. Here is a list of sorts:
1.Trans problem (700R4) -was told it is shift solenoid-easy fix from what I've seen
but not sure as this was relayed to me from previous owner (diesel mechanic-lol).
*TV cable is connected and not broken. TPS (throttle position sensor) has been replaced.*
2.Dent on the outside-top-front of the dog-bone frame above windshield in the center-not sure
how that happened.
3.Needs new hood.
4.Needs new hydraulic lift hinges for: hatch (missing) and hood. (poor car-feel like crying)
5.Needs new lock cylinders replaced for: ignition, t-tops, doors and hatch (maybe on hatch,
not sure. Can't get it open.)
6.Needs driver side window fixed-was told it is the motor but looks off track and I haven't even tried
the switches (afraid to get them stuck in down position).
7.Needs interior work- (is all there but needs replacing): dash pad, consoles (upper and lower), shifter, needs visors (missing),
t-top headliner, driver's seat needs new switch, needs console armrest
and shoulder seatbelt guides (missing).
Well I would like to get what I paid for it. I know some will think what a fool but all 3rd gen enthusiasts know what they are worth when fixed. Someone with time and money to do it will be the one for this car. It drives straight and runs (with the exception to the tranny problem) so I figured it was a good investment. She has the original stock wheels on her too.
Need $2k for her. Sounds crazy, but a running car is worth 1k and this is not just any other car. So contact me here or call (512) 869-7259 or (512) 864-5165 and if you want specific pics let me know and I'll get them to you as soon as possible. Car is located in Georgetown,Tx. Thanks.

Re: 92 Purple Haze
I was told that 1992 Z28's weren't normally available with T-tops. Is this some kind of special order or maybe a RS re-badged as a Z28 ?

Re: 92 Purple Haze
Yea I was wondering that as well. You could have T-tops on a Z28 with the TPI 5.0 but I didn't think you could have the 5.7 with T-tops, so all 5.7 Z28's and B4C RS's were hardtops.
