Stock stereo sux. Need subs and 6X9s mostly for rock...
Well, I'd consider upgrading the 4x6's in the dash before thinking about the 6x9's. And for that matter you could replace the 6x9's with 6.5's or something. I'm just not big on 6x9's. But anyway:
Rockford has a 2 lines of coaxial speakers, the HPC line and the FRC line. The HPC's are typically their higher quality stuff. They have one 6x9: it's a 3-way speaker that handles 100w RMS. The FRC line has both 2-way and 3-way versions, and they handle 75w RMS. I haven't heard the FRC stuff but a friend of mine installed HPC 4x6's and 6x9's and they're okay. Lots of lower midrange/bass for a 6x9.
As for subs, there are a bunch. Bottom of the barrel is the Punch Z, next one up is the Punch He, then the Punch HE2, the Punch HX2, and the Power HX2.
Personally, I'd start with the HE's and work up from there. The Z line really didn't impress me much. But then again, they only start to get really "impressive" with the Punch HX2's. And the Power is a menacing sub. They were doing demos of the 10" at Visions and it was pretty surprising. Still, it's a lot of money to drop on a sub if you're unsure.

Good luck
