unfortunately, most prebuilt boxes do not fit in our cars, so most of us tend to build our own. also remember the fact that the sub needs space in front of it so you dont damage it when its pushing out

If you mean flipping it so it fires directly into the gas tank hump, it might no work out so well. There's the extension bit, as CAMp3RO mentioned. Also, if you're firing directly into the tank area, the sounds you'll hear will be minimized, and this will likely cause some awful rattles in the sheet metal anywhere near the tank. Having never tried it, I don't know for sure, but that's my best guess.

You can put your sub in a truck box, they fit very nicely in the well and can be picked up for $25 at brands mart

I fit my sub down in the well in an old truck box facing the back of the car...hits hard as hell.....I'm now trying to squeeze a Type-R 12" in there when I buy it. It should fit, only 7" deep, and the well is 12" minus 1.5 inches for the 3/4" MDF....I think it will fit.

that might fit but it will be really close. Try making the box out of 3/4" MDF. Make sure you drill screw them or nail them, AND glue them together, and dont forget to silicone the inside cracks.

Here is what I did, it cost me 22 bucks. First I made a box out of plywood, that is the one in the pic. Then I found out that it isn't dense enough so I made the same box out of a sheet of MDF which cost me $20, plus a tube of liquid nails to seal it which cost me 2 bucks. You can't really beat that for cost. And it fits and looks alot better than just putting a truck box in the well.
