amplifier help
i was just wondering if i have an amp that is bridged at 800 x 2 and an amp the is bridged at 600 x 2 can i run two channels to each amp? therefore runnig 1400 watts to each sub? I think the term is dixie chaining but i am not sure.
i don't understand what you said if an amp bridged to 800x2 or 600x2 it would have to be a 4 channel amp. if you add all that it would be 2800 watts.(i'm guessing thats max power which isn't veary realistic) personally i wouldn't run two differant amps to two subs though
No you can't. Running two amps to the same sub require that both amps are the same make/model and that their gains (and therefore output) are matched exactly. Doing this is rather pointless nowadays...i mean there are plenty of amps that produce in excess of 1000rms, some in excess of 2000rms. Just figure out how much power you need and then buy an amp that will put out that much. The JBL 1200.1 is a VERY good bargain, it puts out a little more than rated and can be had online for ~$280.
