Need opinions on 6x9's

Im looking to get some 6x9s for my 88 IROC. I was looking at Kicker i690's. Crutchfield has a sale for $129 for a pair. Any opinions on these? Would I need a seperate amp to drive them? I need to get some bass in my otherwise stock system. I have a Pioneer cd player head unit but stock ERS speakers. I dont really want to put subs in cause the car is made to race not bump, but I would like better sound and bass especially. Thanks for the advice.

I system always sounds better if all the componets match... also pioneer makes pretty good mids and highs,,,,, alot better than kicker impulse which is what you were considering buying... but don;t buy the cheapest onese either

As far as speakers go, I buy nothing but Eclipse. I'm not always sure if their subs and amps are worth the money, but the speakers definitely are.

by far the kickers will give you better bass and overall sound than the pioneers...i have the pioneers and i wish i went with kicker. i will change when i finish the rest of the system. even though u dont want subs the box the make can be easly diconected when ready to race.

If you get the kicker Impulse version you will be disappointed.... if you get kicker reference then you will be happy, but no the impulse

MP Quartz..................No speaker compairs......They hit as hard as a 8"sub. These are 4 ways and I sh*t you not..........They are the best. They are expensive but you will not regret it. If they are too much then just make sure that what ever you get is a 4 way.....I have Kenwood 4ways for now.
