Well today i got the first half of my new system...
5.25" component set from CDT audio (their classic series) along w/ their new line of 6x9's (not on the market yet but my friend got them).... each set of speakers running to a passive crossover (4 total).

I am still waiting on my head unit and amp - - which I'm hoping i'll get tomorrow. The head unit is the Pioneer DEH-P7400 MP (CD-R, CD-RW, MP3) w/ an Ample A414X 4-channel amplifier.
Managed to get everything, including amp kit w/ all the wiring and shipping for $820.... think it was a decent price??






Oh yeah...almost forgot to mention.......the front components are sitting in a set of REZN8R's kicks....managed to snag his first test set I have pics of all the speakers installed, but you'll all have to wait until tomorrow.....


(BTW, the kicks are badass!)

Here ya go... i'll upload more once I get my head unit and amp but until then this is it.

The kicks from REZN8R are VERY nice, and he went out of his way making sure that they were right - - While talking to him I mentioned to him what speakers I was getting, thinking nothing of it..... turns out he called CDT audio and got the specs for the mounting holes for my speakers and cut them out for me before he shipped them! This was very nice of him and much more than I expected.

To those who don't have kicks, or are planning on getting some, I highly suggest purchasing these from REZN8R (you'll hafta wait until he gets back tho..)

My advice is get a friend who works at best buy.. i think its 60 something % discount on stereo equipment?:lala:

Anyways, they guy i went through really hooked me up on everything.... since he's a dealer he can almost do a price-match for anything. I showed him some prices off of random sites online (including ebay) and he took that price plus another $10-20 off so I ended up getting stuff for cheap.... regular retail price woulda been over $11-1200. BTW, if anybody needs any audio equipment lemme know and I'll give you his contact info.

....Still waiting for the damn head unit and amp to get here....

People from Best Buy only get 10% around here. Just think about it, 60% would be less than cost on most things wouldn't it?

 

how do your CDT's sound??? I've had them sittin in my car for almost a week now and am still waiting on my headunit and amp to get here Sucks having brand new speakers and not be able to listen to them

 

demand was too high, for too little profit, and with a promotion at work, I have less time, and I did not want to raise prices beyond what q-forms cost, so I passed the business off to someone who has more time to devote to it.

Finally found out what the hell was taking my headunit and amp to get here...

The guy I orderd through (he's an audio dealer) put the orders in and all that, but in the mean time his area code changed. And it just so happened that the headunit was completely sold out, along with there *MAYBE* only being 1 amp left. Supposedly the company searched all over for the deck and couldnt find it....also, they couldnt get into touch w/ him as his older phone # didn't work. Well he IM'ed me today and let me know what was going on. He said he's trying to find another company/warehouse that has the headunit in stock, and is going to see if he can get his hands on the amp.

Now I have a question for everyone, If i cannot get the deck, which is the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP, which one should I get that, is comparable in price and options?? Mainly I want to be able to play MP3 CD's, and having 3 pre-outs would be nice (the pioneer only has two). The amp is an Ample A414X, and if I remember correctly it was something like 4x75 watts (but underrated)...
So all the audio gurus, if u could help me find something that's similar to these just in case I'm not able to get my originally planned on equipment, I'd greatly appreciate it!

 

i was just making that choice and i got a kenwood mpv7019
and it kicks so much @ss, i wanted the 7400 but when i went and checked this hu it was cheaper and had sum cooler features

 

just checked that bish out and it is pretty bada$$ I probably can get it for cheaper from the dealer, and it has a few better features like you said.... thanks for pointing it out!

Now does anybody have any recommendations for a 4-channel amp that would be comparable to the Ample A414X ??

 

a buddy of mine has a USAcoustics USX4085 (think thats the number) i think he got it off thezeb.com, im not sure. its going for around $180 and it sounds dam nice, not what i expected from a 180 dollar amp. its 4x85 watts @ 12.9 volts, not bad at all imo.

im looking into getting a hifonics son of olympus 4 channel amp, ive heard a lot of good things about this company too, it goes for $260 and is 75x4. if you dont mind paying some money... i know theres another hifonics 4 channel amp thats really powerful, it goes in the ~$630 area and is 125x4 if i remember. check them out at www.thezeb.com

 

My brother works at a best buy here in tucson and he gets 5 percent above cost! Seriously, do you guys know how bad the car audio screws over there customers?! Just to install a stereo in my car, they told me I needed a wiring harness adaptor (15.99 dollars) GM antannae adaptor ( 10.99 dollars) and installation kit (24.99 dollars). Let's see, that adds up to somewhere around 52 dollars? My brother bought it all for me, for 10 dollars. I was like "HOLY SHIZNIT!!!!" Then I got him to buy an alarm and install it in my car, and the alarm was 200 dollars, 45 dollars for the back up battery, 20 dollars for extra siren, 100 dollars installation labor. Now that adds up to, 365 dollars for everything, my brother got it ALL installed for 100 dollars. I will NEVER pay full price for anything at best buy EVER again!!!!!!

 

does he get this discount throughout the entire store, or just the department he works in? Once I turn 18 I think i might apply for a job there, or at Circuit City.... might not be the best job, but can't beat the discounts

 

ENTIRE STORE!! It's the greatest discount. We'll go to best buy and I'll buy a couple dvd's, that are like 20 bucks a piece and maybe I'll save like 3 bucks on the first one and 5 bucks on the second! The discount is great!! Eric

I have a question, Can you put the 6.5's in the kick panels? Or do you have to use the 5.25's? Also, Mike92rs, is your car a manual? If so, how is the foot room in there? Is it bad? Do you sometimes kick your speaker? Does it get in the way of the clutch at all? Thanks guys! Eric

 

as long as they arent more than 3" (i believe it is) deep, yea, you can fit 6.5s... thats the largest size tho, you cant squeeze a 7 in there...

 

heres kick panels with a clutch .. i had a tad on the hard side adjusting cause im a size 12-13 shoe and always held my foot in the corner. but im used to it and dont notice them there.

 

Yes, that's what I have installed. As long as the dimensions havent drastically changed since my set was made (I doubt they have), then you should still be able to fit 6.5's.

Foot room is fine. It doesnt affect driving at all, just cant use the dead pedal. Only occasionally nick the tweeter when getting in/out of the car. Here's another pic that shows clearance:
