RockWood subs

I picked up a pair of 12" RockWood subs with dual voice coils for 20 bucks. They pound harder then my 12" Punch subs !!!! Maybe it's the size of the magnet on these things... 5 times as heavy as the one on the punch subs. I thought Rockwood stuff was crap... it's really not that bad ! These are the 1000W versions with a reall huge magnet so that's probably why they perform better then my old subs.

The bass feels a lot tighter and of course A LOT louder. Now I can actually see my side mirrors get blurry and I hear a lot more rattles. Plus the back massage is nice. Definetly a lot better then my old subs... to me anyway!

Dude, your punch subs had some SERIOUS problems if you think these rockwoods sound better/louder. There should be absolutely no comparison. Rockwood subs are among the cheapest subs I've ever seen. Those things make Jensen stuff look good.

Well maybe you should listen to them when you get a chance Jim. They're really not THAT bad! I'm very happy for the price I paid.

I've heard rockwood before. One thing that you'll find with cheap subs is that when they're brand new, they don't sound too bad (as long as you don't do an A/B comparison with anything else), but within a few months, your SPL will drop by a dB or 2, and they'll start getting extremely sloppy, but because you're hearing them every day, you won't notice. You'll sit in a friend's car that's set up properly, then it'll hit you like a ton of bricks just how bad your stuff got. I was there dude. My 4 Urban Audio 12s sounded great to me, and it wasn't until I heard somebody elses system that I realized just how bad my junk was.

True.. but then again only car audio freaks like yourself and I'm sure many people on this board notice such subtle differences. To my untrained ears it sounds great

I have seen those subs at every swap meet I have been to and I always wanted to know if people bought stuff like Rockwood and Kenford. I guess now I know. I agree with Jim, they will sound decent for now but as soon as you sit in a buddies car with a nice system you will be able to hear the difference if you are a Car Audio Freak or not.
