85 trans am stereo

Lets start off by me saying i have a 1985 trans am ws6 with 47,500 miles and no winters, Hypertech chip , 160 thermostat, and a k&n airfilter. I want to change the complete stereo. My car has the best radio i could have gotten in 85. I opened up the back speaker pannel and instead of their being 6x9's their was a 4x6 and a 5" round speaker. My car has a gain switch so thats why i think it has two speakers in there. If i get new speakers in the back and in the front will i have any problems? , I'm worried about the back ones. If i get new ones how will all the back speakers get hooked up. I think only 2 work normally, and when the gain button is pressed the other two come on , for a total of 4 . I want all of them on when i get a new stereo.

you have the stock Subs in the back. i think they are 8" ones. what i would do is put 6x9's in the back and then puts a box in the back. it may cost a little bit of money to by-pass the stock amps.
