1.5 DIN vs. single DIN appearance

Ok folks, I'm looking to buy a new receiver in the next week and I want to know if anyone has found a way to make a single DIN radio install look worth a darn. I'm leaning heavily toward a DEH-77 Pioneer 1.5 DIN unit right now but that's mostly because of the poor appearance of the 1 DIN units I've seen (very aftermarket looking - most jut out of the dash about an inch and have an ugly - non-matching black faceplate below. There are several nicer head units that I would buy in the 1 DIN size if someone out there has found a way to make that installation look good. My car's a 1992 Firebird but I'm interested in any F-Car set-up that looks good.

Thanks,
Larry

I'd be interested in any Sony 1.5 DIN products. In dash CD unit. Do they exist?

Crutchfield supplies car and color specific molding that matche perfectly free of charge with the puchase of a reciever, they also supply adapters to make installation easy. They are a little more expensive than other places but i went with them b/c of there great customer support and there extras that they include.

I wish I would have installed my single din myself instead of having circuit city do it. I have one of the ugly stick out an inch thing on their right now. HOWEVER, I did my Cavalier myself, and I managed to get it looking very nice. I had to cut one, maybe 2, plastic supports from the rear of the dash, and so far I haven't seen any negative affects. I am pretty sure you could rig up a camaro the same way, but I am sure you will have to cut/bend some supports to make it work.

The back of that firebird radio pod is very shallow. Good luck and if you can make it work...let us know.

Scosche car stereo installation kits

Anybody ever try this Scosche car stereo installation kit (maybe it comes from Crutchfield too)? Found this at Sounddomain.com. Sounds like it tries to bring the surface flush like the factory install. If anyone has it, send a pic.

walmart carries Scosche kits for around $10, I couldn't see inside the package to see if it looks like the rest of the interior though
