how do I wire in a dual alt? 3 amps

I have three alpine v12 models mrv 501 x2 and one mrv 1002.

when the bass hits my voltage drops way bellow 13v. I was thinking of wireing another alternator but not sure how.

You have a voltage problem. The first thing to do is replace all factory power/ground leads. If it still persists pull the alt and battery and have them tested. If they check out ok, and you still have voltage probs, look into high output alternators, Wrangler is supposed to be one of the best. DO NOT add another battery or a second alt. Adding another battery cause MORE voltage drop since the alt has to now charge two batteries. Adding a second alt is an absolute waste of time, money and space (unless you have a 20kw SPL only vehicle). Just get a higher output alternator.

For a 'bandaid' fix, try a capacitor. If you have a friend who has one see if you can pop it in your car and see if it helps, if you don't know anyone that has one try going to a stereo shop and see if you can test one. Sometimes caps will help minor voltage probs (ie dimming lights), but if you are having major voltage drops (hits and sits below 13V for more than a second at the most) then a capacitor won't fix it.

Like what Mcss said, get a higher amp alt. Or, you can have your re wound with new brushes and all by a local shop and that will give you more amps out of it.

Yes it drop below 13v only at idle but.... The voltage gauge gets pretty close to 13v when driving.

Second alternator? Im gonna have to say get a stiffening capacitor for the amps. The second battery isnt going to do anything for you except give you longer playing time while the cars off, unless you hook an isolator up to it, and i really dont think all that is necessary.

You didnt mention any capacitors in your system, and without them, the heavy bass makes the amps pull a drain off the battery. Caps usually help with that problem. I didnt look at which v12's you have, but you want roughly 1 farad of capacitance per 1000 watts youre running.

Hope this helps.

well if it onl happens at idle or low rpms ....its those underdrive pulleys.....ive seent hat happen way too many times.......they UNDERDRIVE the accessories......meaning that at low rpms the accessories get les power.....(alt wont fully funcion until about 2000 rpm...)

so if your sittin in traffic or idling a lot you alt isnt fully charging that battery....

just a thougth

my friend had the same thing happen on his neon(i know)

he gave up the 4%hp to get a decent charge for his system

WHOOPS..... READ THE WRONG SIGNATURE....YOU DONT SEEM TO HAVE UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS.......BUT IF YOU DO THIS WOULD APPLY TO YOU I NEED TO LEARN TO READ....LOL
