air tight or ported sub boxes?
If the the sub can work with either which sould i use? What makes the sound different? Why do some require air tight boxes?
Thanks
John
Thanks

if I were you then I would get just one 12" or 10" in a sealed box then. if you listen to rock too you may think about getting a 12" for lows and them like some component 6.5" because rock doesn't have a ton of bass below 80hz or so which is where a sub works the best. some songs do have that low but alot don't

ok, I need the bass for some of my songs that have bass guitars. Would this box work. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=120276 It is another one of my posts. I am buying a pioneer IMPP 450W max 150W rms 12" sub.

I'm wondering about that to.... I was thinking about going with to Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch's. But if I really don't need um, then how about 2 RFP 10"s? I listen to Metal, all of it, from Heavy, to Power, Death, Black..... and even some older rock. Would 2 12's be a bit to much for that kinda of music? (I had heard that the recovery time is lower, so that music that has hellish fast Double Bass drums would sound like crap, as well as the fact that most of it is played fast anyway, which in turn would allow for very little recovery time, is all that true?)

well double bass should technically sound better with a closed box so it hits faster, and having abigger sub will technically represent the sound of the bass more accurately,in my opinion.I dont know if that is true tho...i doubt it is heh.

Closed box? For rock?? Nah way. Ported all the way. Its louder, fuller, a bring out the "higher" notes of the bass. While closed is just deep bass, which won't get very loud. Ported all the way.
Ya guys think its better to make a box? Or to buy one?.. Where?

i listen to the same music.. all that fast heavy stuff, but should i be considerin 10" subs instead of 12"s? with all the double drums n very fast beats, is it true to get a 10" sub since it will react a little quicker than a 12" sub, and be a little more cleaner when it comes to fast beats? i still want the bass to be low though, since i like some techno style songs too with a lot of bass... its either two 12"s or two 10's for me... just cant decide hehe
My Dad had an 85 Firebird with 2 Pioneer 12'2 in a sealed box that sat on the Gas Tank part of the Car. The Hatch was closed on the box to keep it from sliding everywhere. The Bass was really good, although it lacked deeper Bass. We played with the Amps a bit until he bought what was called an "Epicenter".
The Epicenter gave you the option to make the Bass deeper by simply turning a **** (which he mounted on the center console).
Hope this story gives you any ideas.
