how to get code for GM Theftlock

hey, didnt want to be a post hi jacker, so i am creating my own post, how do i get the code to disarm the Theftlock on a GM head unit? My friend is letting me borrow his head unit because he got ane wone, and i am saving up for my own, anyway its out of a 95 GMC sierra, I finally found out that scoche makes a reverse wiring harness, so i can wire it into my car, and have it hook up like it was that way from the factory. but

Do i need to go to the dealership that originally sold the truck? can any dealership unlock it for me?

im pretty sure any dealership can. Give them a call and see what they say and save a trip of going over there.

I bought my wife a jetta a couple of years back and when we replaced the battery the book was missing the page with the code in it. We called the dealership, they asked us the vin# the serial # of the deck and our names and I think maybe some little stuff to let them know it was us. Then they gave it to me over the phone.
Hope this helps,
Brian

Do people even steal these factory radios? Gm goes through a hell of a lot of trouble with all these code locks, but I wouldn't accept a GM radio to put in my car if it was given to me for free!

They do......Stock CD Players can actually get some decent money.......especially since people with stock radios rarely have alarms......

lol, tom man, you never cease to amaze me with your comments.
You seem to bring out the most obvious statement in the most humourous of manner.

I dont think a stock GM radio is gonna get you any more than 20 bucks nowadays. A lot of the brainstorming that GM designers went through makes me stop for a minute and think .. WHY?

Re: how to get code for GM Theftlock

TomP, are GM radio/cd players that bad? Do you know who makes them? I`m looking for a replacement radio/cd for my `88 Iroc and was thinking about putting the Sony from my `74 El Camino in but I also see almost new cd players from GM cars and trucks on E-bay for cheap.
