i need YOUR opinion on amp.

first, off, i'm selling my Profile CL800, cuz i want more power for my Alpine TypeR 10s.

i have found 2 on Etronics.com... and they go as follows.

Lanzar Viberant VIBE268 - 800W x2 @ 2ohms - $174.99
Clarion DPX1000.2 - 450W x2 @ 2ohms - $244.99

you can imagine my price range for an amp.. so if you know of anything within it that you might suggest, please post.. i'm looking to get one this weekend or possibly tomorrow!

HE IS RIGHT

92 z28 is right Lanzar is considered almost junk in my book also, but my buddy has a lanzar vibe 1200 amp hooked to 2 JL audio 10 inch subs and it friggin pounds.

The signal to noise ratio isn't that great, and there's no mention whatsoever of damping factor, or at what voltage the amp makes its claimed RMS wattage

I like to stick to stuff thats worth a crap, and not something that claims 1600W for 200 bux.

http://www.mmxpress.com/soundstream.html

RUB500-1 MONO 400W $267.95

RUB1000-2 500W X 2 2 CHANNEL $415.95

www.soundhabit.com has the memphis 500D for $290 and 1000D for $390 but their page is down right now, or i'd give links to each of those also.

not to pick at ya Z28, but if you go on a few car audio boards around the net (sounddomain, termpro, carsound), the general consensus is that soundstream has gone downhill a lot in the last few years. i agree they are still pretty good, but nothing like they used to be. but still better than the vibe. and white, save your money for another week and get the jbl 1200.1. trust me. dont go and buy bottom line stuff because in the end you will end up wasting that money when you go to upgrade.

Just brought the soundstream up cause I see they've completely changed the stuff recently, i'll stick with Memphis/Boston for mine.

ok, the JBL1200... it seems that everyone recommends this for my 2 10 setup no matter what i say or do.... so i'm gonna ride with you guys for a bit. Give me diagrams as to the wiring and what the voltage-resistance-current is for both series and parallel wiring and i'll make my decision depending. thank you.

The reason people say the vibe 1200.1 is junk is simply because they have A LOT of returns. The amps break, quit working etc quite often. You would be taking a HUGE gamble as to if it will work. With the JBL, they have a great track record so your pretty safe with them.

Why is everyone suggesting that WhiteNinja use a one channel amp for two DVC subs??

Well CaysE, it boggled my mind too, until i did some more research on the JBL1200... well, the exterior of this amp looks like that of a 2 channel, JBL does this for ease of wiring. so i can wire the subs parellel and they each have their own "channel" persay...
I've done more research and skecd the gurus on Fbodyaudio.com about it and they all prefer their systems with mono bass... there isn't much more noticable difference than stereo.
