Stereo help needed!!

OK lets set this up. I have an 89 IROC it at one point in time had the entire Delco/Bose system in it. Well when I bought this car the previous owner took it out and replaced it with a Pioneer head/cdplayer and a custom speaker box in the rear. Well he also hacked up the wiring pretty bad. So My dad and I have to figured it would be a lot easier to wire the whole thing from scratch.

Here is what I am going to put in it. A Pioneer CD player with pioneer 6x9's since the old ones were taken out. Now on the speakers in the kick panels and in the hatch area they both have amps for each speaker. These speakers are not hooked up and have had the wires cut that go to them. Does anybody know what wires go were, or maybe the schematic? I really want to hook up the kick panel speaker and the hatch speakers to there amps. I dont want to buy subs or anything else I'm not really a stereo person.

What is the schematic for the whole Delco/Bose system? Do the speakers in the dash have an amp attached to them like the ones in the kick panels and hatch? I will be buying a repair manual shortly for it when I get the money. I'm just some poor kid with an awesome car.

I'll be doing this work over the winter while the IROC is being stored so I'll have a lot of time to work on it. Thanks for the help.

I don't have much experience with that kind of thing, but yeah I think its all hooked to one amp. But as stated before, I could be wrong.

If you were gonna start all over, do the wiring too.

Thanks guys. What is the best wire to use for this application? I have heard about a reverse wiring harness that Best Buy is suppose to sell. Have any of you ever heard of this.

About the amps for the speakers. I would agree with you kicker about the single amp but I have taken abart one of the speaker covers in the rear and it looked like it was a tiny amp that hooked up to the speaker. But I'm not real sure about that though.

Sorry, have never heard of a reverse connector. But if it makes the install easier, than go for it.

just use like some good 10 guage to your amps (if they are not too big) and some of the better speaker wire. For just the wire for power or ground, I would go to a supply store like home depot or something. For speaker wire, try your local stereo shop.

Kicker is probably right, 8guage would be better if you can get it.

Well I went to Best Buy today and they do sell a reverse wiring harness. They said it would cost about 70 bucks for a regular harness and a reverse, so I'll buy that when I get paid and start looking for some speaker wire and 8-10 guage wire for the amps.

Like he said before, he's not a stereo person, and I really doubt that those amps would need 8 gauge wire. 10 gauge will sufficiently power those amps, and be small enough to work with. No point in trying to run 8 gauge wires all over the car for amps that only power one speaker each.
