need advice

I'm new at car audio. I don't know what is good, bad or otherwise. I'm looking to put in a decent system in my '85 TA. What would you recommend for a head unit, amp, and subs? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money. I already have Kenwood 4x6's and Clarion 6x9's. I'm looking for a cd player with a remote and flipdown faceplate. As for the amp and subs, I don't have a clue, I'd like them to be decently priced. I'm not looking to blow out windows or win competitions, I just want some good, hard hitting bass. I also don't want to take up a ton of space, I need room for my t-tops and other things. Getting rid of the back seats is also not an option, I need that room for passengers.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I dont know if this is what you would call the right price but here it goes.
Head Unit: Alpine CDA-7894 Flipdown, remote, MP3 $339
Subs: Alpine Type R 10s Thump very well $210(for 2)
Amp: JBL 600.1 clean and powerful $195
Box for 2 10s and T-Tops $275(dont know if they are for third gens though)

Very nice system for $1019

Or there are others and other setups

Just let us know

Brian

got my pioneer deh-p740mp for $225 brand new, it plays mp3's flip down face, and remote!
JBL 300.1 can be had for around $125 off ebay
Type S 10's can be found for about $75 on the net
build your own box $25

total $450 not including wiring

Another question: What are the chances of me blowing out the back glass? I kinda want to avoid that. Also, I'm probably going to get head unit for christmas, maybe a Sony X-plod or Clarion. Is the Sony X-plod amps good? I love the look.

What kind of price range are you looking at? Are you looking to get an amp for your speakers as well as your subs, or just run them off the deck? Are you planning to upgrade in the future? Finally, what kind of music do you listen to? If you can give a little more information as to what your expectations are from your system, and the price you're looking to spend, you will get more relevant suggestions for your personal system.

I'm looking for something as cheap as possible. I listen to hard rock and rap. I just want some good, loud, punchy bass. If I need an amp, I'll get one. If I can run the subs off the head unit and get good sound, I will. I'm not looking to blow out windows or win competitions, just want it good and loud. I probably won't hook an amp to the speakers, only to the subs(if I need the amp). I may upgrade in the future.
Thanks.

As long as you don't drop any of that stuff through the glass itself, you'll be fine. More than fine.

You'd have to make quite an effort to blow out the hatch glass. Lots of money and an incredibly well executed installation.

you need at least 1000 watts to blow out a back glass, i had 4 bostwick hd 12's hitting towards the back glass and never broke it. broke my FRONT windsheild in my rx7 once though, ..i was proud of that

you're not going to blow out the glass unless its already broken or cracked or otherwise messed up..
