New systme components, what ya think
Need to know what your honest opinion is. I just went out and got 3/4" MDF wood to build a box for my ROC. Already cut the main top piece and i must say i did a good job for my first try, Any way plans for it are a 10" Sony explod sub and a Sony Explod 760 Watt amp. My EQ has subwoofer outputs on it so im gonna use those and keep the rest of the system as is fronts and rear sails as mids and highs. Should this work ok. Im not looking to win any compititions just for a little more bass then what the normal speakers can handle. Any input appreciated good or bad. Thanx.

So you set the subs up with a plate? that will give you more bass than what you have right now but if you are going to take up the back area anyways, why not just make the whole box? It will sound much better with a box.

Yeah, am in the process of building the box, just had time to do the top. I will build the rest of it later, im just hoping that after everything is done it sounds good. I also need to know what size should i make the port hole.

I'm not a fan at all of sony stuff, especially their speakers. For the money you can do much better. That being said, if you already own it, you might as well make it sound as good as it can. Talk to Sony about what size port to use. They'll be able to give you the best advice. The port size/volume will determine what frequency it's tuned to, and this needs to be paired closely with the proper box size. When building a ported box, it's important to use the proper box size. If you aren't able to provide the proper size box for a ported enclosure, I'd strongly suggest going with sealed. Sealed boxes take up less space, and are more forgiving if they're a little too big or too small. The 10" sub should work well in a sealed enclosure around 1-1.25 cubic feet or so.

Are you dawing plans so you know what size everthing needs to be. It's alot easer to cut a peaice of wood when you know the right size, instead of cutting a peice, test fitting, cutting some more, test fitting, ect.....

Yep, i took plenty of measurements after the first box i made didnt fit.
The top was perfect, but in my race for glory i forgot about that freakin angle in the hatch.
But, i guess we all live and learn. I made the new box and tested the fit when finished and it fit in there perfectly!
Now all i have to do is cut out the spot for my CD changer and find a good spot for my amps.

I would have done it that way, but i need to keep my t-top hold downs functional., but thanks for the suggestion though, i do appreciate it. By the way, is that a pretty good amp, it happens to be the same exact one i bought.
