subwoofer enclosure plans i drew up....

what do ya think?

the only part that concerns me is the bottom cuz of the board only being 13" wide and the sub is 12" and i will need to fit the board inbetween there..........

...

1st: How many Cubic feet and what subs are you gonna run??

2nd What is the distance from the cone face to the floor??

3rd: You will need to produce a sort of venting in order for this box to work. If you angled the subs back a bit ( toward the rear of the car ) and produced a vent back there, it would work best.

there is a good 2 or 3 inches i believe....i made sure not to make it close enough where the cone would pop out and hit the floor LOL

If that's 2 cubic feet per sub, I doubt you'll have anywhere near enough airspace.

The other thing to consider is how well vented the floor area is. If there isn't sufficient room for the air to pass around the box, you're going to wind up with a system that has some 4th-order bandpass effects that probably aren't going to behave as you might intend.

bad idear to have the subs plaing down.
you should be able to get the subs in a 13in mounting face but it will be close and all of the screws might not hit wood.

well this is how my subs are mounted now.........its nice and all but i would like it to sit lower so i could strap my t-tops down when i have them off.......and also i thought that if you had your subs pointed down that it actually makes more bass cuz of the reverb.....or something like that.......

Not necessarily. As long as there's sufficient space around the box so that it doesn't create a 2nd enclosure, there will be no adverse effects, and can actually be beneficial because it'll mask some of the higher frequency harmonics.

there is basically no room at the bottom to face a 12", let alone two. i was able to fit a single 12" in the bottom half of the well, but i had to face it up.

There might be if the sub isnt all the way to the floor.

Some of the loudest boxes I ever built when I was an installer were in F-bodies in a box close to what you show above. Basically a flat panel across the rear hatch well area holding the subs, then building the box on top of that. We vented the top of the box, creating a bandpass enclosure almost... We even tried it with our cheapest line of subs and it still worked great. The curve in the box planners looked like ***, but once they're in the car they sound freaking awsome!!! Something to do with the natural harmonics of our hatch area... which in fact is why I recently got into my '86 Trans Am instead of buying another new car!

I'll be starting my box this weekend and trying out three JL Audio 8W6's in a box like that. I have no doubts that it'll pound like a ****!!! :hail:
