If you really want to save money, Lowes carries some stuff, I don't remember right off hand what it's called, but it's essentially the same stuff as dynamat. It's like $90 for a big *** roll. If you're a hard core dynamat fan, www.ikesound.com has it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO............dynamat is just like Florida here...a toilet bowl where people flush their money away... just give me the money and it will sound the same!!!
I had dynamat in my old car...and it sounded exactly the same, and i spent over 200 bucks...it may make a VERY SMALL difference, but when you still hear the rattling, youll regret it... listen to joezero though, that is a very inexpensive way to do it, and I bet it will sound just the same

I can go one better than Lowes, and two better than Dynomat....go to ClassicIndustries and order the under carpet sound deadener....custom fit for your car...I think its like $50. It's a rubber mat that lays flat underneath the carpet.

Don't listen to 92Camaro44! Dynomat is essential to any sound system! I've Dynomated most of my car (a bit more to go) and you can barely hear the subs outside the car! If you don't use dynomat then you turn into one of those idiots cruzing down the road and are rattling the cars all around them!! Just say no to rattling!

While there is much debate about the effectiveness of dynamat et. al. there is no reason to use dynamat when they're are other much more economical ways to accomplish the same thing.

First off, what causes rattles? You guessed it, loose stuff. I would say 80-90% of rattles can be corrected either by tightening loose panels, etc. or by using some sort of foam spacer.

Now if you were planning on dynamatting the whole interior, then you can use a spray sound deadner which is much cheaper. There are also other products that are identical to dynamat that don't carry the price of name recognition. I have been told the stuff from lowes is exactly the same as dynamat. You have to ask yourself "where did dynamat come from". The fact of the matter is sound deadeners have been used in construction long before people wanted to soundproof their cars.

I know there are some people that swear by dynamat but in my experience they have always done every last nook and cranny in the car. At that point I would agree that you are getting some degree of improvement. But anything less than that and I think you will be disappointed because it will only be as strong as the weakest link. An f-body isn't like a regular car where you can seal off the trunk, you have to do the whole interior. My take on it, the music inside is so loud I don't hear the rattles, and I don't care if someone outside does.

i agree with joezero...its the rattling, and there are more economical ways to go..dynamat is a big waste of money, when you can spend less for something that works just as effective

In my opinion dynomat is the best. It was designed specifically for use in cars, where as the rest of that stuff you guys speak of wasnt. And yes, it is expensive in stores . Go to www.thezeb.com and check it out. You can easily do your whole trunk w/two door kits. To get that in Dynomat extreme is only 100 bucks, where as in a store it's almost double that. I plan to order some soon as i scrape together the cash.

Au contraire, mon frere. The stuff I used is not only made for cars, its pre-cut to fit third gen F-bodies. $50.
