Check out this thread, it's what you were asking for, and the last post was just a week or two ago. It'd be nice if we could just get a sticky so that people don't keep posting the same pics over and over, wastes server space.

i never drilled any holes... i cant see the need too.. unless i did something wrong... pioneer rules by the way, sweet deck 86niterider, i got a pioneer the other day, DEH-P5500 or something like that, dont have pics yet, ill get some soon. my hatch area is a MESS of wires, i need to make a box that is lower in the well and put my amp in it somehow so that my ttops can still go in the back..
i was thinking of making a little thing so that my amp can sit inside the box and put a piece of plexiglass on it so i can see the amp, yet, still not have any air leaking... hard to explain.

4 gauge power is run down the driver's side of the car (my battery's on the driver's side). I drilled a hole through the firewall. I drilled from the "inside-out", with the drill underneath the dash. There are pieces in the firewall that you can use as a guide. You might also have a knock-out plug in the firewall that you can use; I hear it was for a clutch. If you have the plug, just knock it into the engine compartment using a hammer & punch.
The wire fits nicely underneath the door sill panel. Remove the sill panel, and feel underneath the carpet. About an inch or two from the sill edge, the floor "drops off", and there's a large gap which can fit thick power wire easily.
You'll have to un-do the rear paneling on the driver's side to run the wire all the way back. A bonus, you don't have to unclip the panel from the hatch area, just "flex it" back enough so you can poke the power wire through.
All three preamp cords are run down the center of the car, underneath the carpet, to wind up in the hatch well. Two are Phoenix Gold, the subwoofers use Lightning Audio.
All speaker wire is run down the passenger side of the car.
Some say I went overboard, but hey, I've got no noise. Remember to use high-quality patch cords; if you didn't spend at least $40 for a single 2-channel patch, you didn't spend enough.
The bonus is that you only have to buy quality patch cords once; you won't ever have to "upgrade" to better ones. (Unless you hit it rich and want patch cords that are over $100!)

You don't have to drill through the firewall. As Tom said, there are several rubber plugs in the firewall that can be removed/enlarged. If you're going down the passenger side (my batter is on that side, opposite of Tom's. It depends on year/model) You can slide it down between the fender and the frame, and then run it in from behind the kick panel. If your car doesn't have power equipment there will be a rather large plastic plug about half way up. I just popped it out and punched a large hole in it (I have a lot of wires running through there, not just the stereo one). If not, it's a lot easier to drill through there than through the firewall, a lot less nerve racking too.

(Unless you hit it rich and want patch cords that are over $100!) if you wanna be stubborn and run your rcas and power down the same side. you need to make sure your rcas are sheilded. but even this wont garuntee you wont pick up interference. in every installastion i have done(and *** knows i have done many) i have run the power down the side where the battery is and the rcas on the oppisite side.
i got a pioneer premier deh-p740 off ebay for like $240 shipped, i also have a pioneer 380 watt x 1(rms) amp and 2 10" pioneer i think 300 watt (rms) subs. i built my own sub box. 2 kenwood 6 x 9's somewhere back there...
i used to have a crappy kenwood head unit and a cd changer, but i sold the changer to my friend and bought the pioneer head unit. the difference in the sound was amazing! the pioneer unit really woke up the subs.
i'll post some pictures up if i can get them
