two radios possible?

alright i was wondering if i can hook up and aftermarket cd player to my stock am/fm/cassette? can i just splice the speaker wires and go? i would turn off the cass player to use the cd and subs and then turn that off to use the am/fm tuner. i dont want to hack up my new car so can i just splice the speaker wires to work on both?

i don't know what the hell you're trying to do by that

screw the two radio idea what you need is a GM quickconnect radio adapter to go from the factory harness to the new cd player and an install kit for the cd player to go in the factory location then add your amp and subs and on the blue remote turn on wire that runs from the cd player to the amplifier for the subs you want to run a switch to turn the subs on and off so you can choose between just the factory speakers and a full system if you want a pic with a better eplanation let me know

Putting a cd player isn't by any means hacking up the car.

i dont want to hack up the oem faceplate. its a 2000 ford taurus and a rectangle in that big oval faceplate looks really horible. i just wanted to mount mine under the dash since i have a remote anyway.

check this out, it is a cd player with no radio, it plugs into your antenna, volume is controlled by factory unit. All you have to do is find a place to mount it. No wires to splice.

go to www.crutchfield.com and put in the info for your car. i dont know if they charge extra for that car, but they make an adapter that replaces the oval piece. doesnt look too bad.

Jaws, that's the same thing I was thinking of. If he doesn't want to dive behind the dash either, I've seen a unit named "soundfeeder", and it works by proximity... your radio picks up the frequency of this soundfeeder, and you hear the CD player thru the radio. Only problem is that since it's not directly linked thru the antenna wire, you might get some static.

There was some kind of court ruling that said aftermarket radios don't void new car warranties as long as they're installed properly and don't destroy the car (if it's a lease)... just like adding an aftermarket exhaust or new wheels.

thanks guys, i found a shop that is going to put it in under the dash out of the way and keep power to the stock radio for the clock. i did it that way just to keep the stock faceplate and put it to use.

So they are just hooking up a aftermarket cd player to the original head unit.

they are disconnecting the stock radio and putting the harness on the new cd player and i am having them run a hot wire and a memory wire to the old radio to keep the clock working. that way the old one isnt just sitting there doing nothing.
