why no one votes for infinity?
i have been wandering around on this site for a while and i hear a lot of people talking about the best subs for the price....well i havnt read anyone talking about infinities. a few of my buddies have JL's W0 and my other buddy has the rockford and another has the type-R's. my system sounds better than all of these and i have a really crappy combo
i have 2 infinity references and a 600 jensen amp with a custom ported box in the well. and i got all of this stuff for a total of 350 bucks. i set off car alarms through parking lots and stuff. do i have a fluke system or what not? i roll my windows up and turn the bass up and my eyes start to water and ears begin to hurt.
so with my experience im just dumbfounded why no one else talks about infinities all that much?

Most people on here talk about SPL, cause it's real difficult to say "my SQ system will rock yours any day!" Everyone likes to be better than the next guy. That being said, Infinitys are incredible SQ manufacturers. I have two 10" DVC Kappas, and they sound absolutely incredible. However, they definitely will not overpower a W0 or a Type-R in terms of SPL. When you bring up Infinity, a plethora of fans will crawl out of the woodwork, with healthy ears and the best damn sounding f-bodies anywhere. Anyone want to second that?
Your custom ported box probably gets the most out of those subs, as well. I'm sure it sounds awesome.

The Infinity Perfects have a great reputation, but from what I've seen (no first-hand experience tho), they seem to like a ported box better than sealed, which can cause a person to run into box size issues in a thirdgen. Some guys run big power to them and they survive. Other guys blow them up. Any sub is going to have at least a few morons popping them, but I saw a LOT of Perfects blowing up - but not recently. Maybe Infinity fixed the problem. I've got a buddy with some Perfect 12s in a sealed box and I need to sit down and spend some time listening to them.

I had a set of Infinity Reference 4x6's in the dash; they actually "sang" instead of "blared". 'Course I wound up blowing them out... got ticked one day, cranked up the music past distortion level without having any crossover on the front's, and toasted them. Oops.
Yea, the infinity perfects sound, astounding... but there is definitly a problem with blowing them...as far as their subs go. I have also seen too many of them returned to the store, but while they are actually working, they are hard to match. I personally have the JLw0, and they are put to shame by the perfects. But, like Jim said, they require a ton of space to sound good.

I have infinity 6 x 9's and I would never sell them, even if someone gave me 100 dollars more than what I payed for them. 75 watts rms and they ring and the have bass but I have that tuned out w. a crossover. I vote for infinities any day of the week. And if they make their subs like their 6 x 9's, they're great too.

the perfects used to have a problem with the glue on the spider i believe...but after a year of many subs blowing the problem was fixed.
perfects are good subs and will hang with the shiva, w3 and type r anyday in SPL and SQ
i heard 4 walled perfects sealed off of two JBL 1200s about 2 years ago and it was fairly impressive. Although i dont understand why anyone would make a sealed wall

My friend's 91 RS has a couple Kappa perfects, and they even sound good with the sony Xplode amp he has hooked to them. They are running at 1 ohm right now. They simply refuse to distort.
Another guy I know had a set of Infinity compenents in the front of his Civic, they also sounded excellent. More of a SQ brand there.
Keep in mind, my Pioneer subs hooked to my rockford amp at least equaled his kappas, in the same box.

Infinities aren't bad - but there's a lot of other subs out there that you can get that sound even better for the money, imo. But it doesn't matter what others think, you're the one listening to your subs, and if they sound good to you, then your goal has been accomplished and your money well spent!!
