I dont have it in for more than a week and somebody steals it The bastards who did it only took my deck though. 200 cds in the case in the rear seat. Left alone. 2 amps in the rear seats. Still there.. All the speakers were left alone. Interesting and very very frustrating. I like how they managed to actually pull the deck out along with ripping my console apart. Very nice people I was just starting to enjoy my car too Do alarms actually help for things like this? It was stolen in my driveway during the day. Just one more thing I gotta buy now....

Sorry to hear that. That just makes me mad that people have no respect for others.

I have had an alarm on every car I have owned and no one has ever stolen any of my stuff. So either the warning stickers on the door windows makes them think twice or I have been really lucky.

Warning stickers only stop an idiot. Anybody else will figure out real fast if you actually have an alarm or not. If you do have an alarm, unless somebody wants your specific stuff real bad, they will just move on to an easier target.

get an alarm.. get a piezo siren and mount it under the dash.. They are loud and annoying.. .. you can also get the smoke machine to fill the car up with smoke. or the retractable tazer with an alarm you can hook many gadgets up to it.. i am going to do the piezo siren under the dash though.. they are very small (palm size) and rip the ears right out of you.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to go to the swap meet and see if anyone has some kind of good alarm there. I'm making sure this is the first and the last time somebody robs me. I also might have found out who did it too. They'll FOR SURE recieve something in a nicel gift basket

WARNING: if you have stereo equipment installed NEVER give those people your correct adress. the highschool kids that work there install your stuff, know what where and how to remove it. get your adress off the paperwork and rob you a week later. happens all the time up here in beaverton. classic scam. allot of people want jobs at carstereocity

An ***? Sure. A dirtbag? Probably. An idiot? Not usually. Any good thief is anything but an idiot. Don't ever under-estimate the abilities and skill of a professional thief, or you might wind up being his next unfortunate victim.

I have had cd players stolen twice. Once was recently and I still havent replaced it. I could really tell the difference in the styles from one time to another. The first one punched the lock and opened up the car. He unmounted and unplugged the cd player and left everything nice and neat. This last one busted out the rear side window(this wasnt a thirdgen) and unlocked it and ripped it out and just ripped the wires loose. They also tried to punch the lock on the trunk it appears, but didnt get in(thankfully). This more recent one I am guessing was just a kid or two that looked in and saw I had a nice cd player. The other one seemed to know a little bit of what they were doing. They also stole a cb out of my cousins car in front of my house and a cd player out of a friends truck around the block at the same time and didnt do any damage to either of their vehicles. Over all it sucks, but I guess you take a chance by putting expensive stereo stuff in your car. I am seriously considering an alarm when i replace my stuff this next time though.

Had my CD deck stolen last week. Actually caught them a month earlier before they got into the car. I had a locking cover so I started putting it on every night. I had no problems until one night I forgot to put it on and sure enough the next morning my system was gone. I think they slimjimmed the doors cracked my cover plate and just ripped the stereo out. My girlfriends deck in her jeep has never been messed with and it sits in the sam edriveway, she has an alarm. Needless to say I put one in yesterday most stereo punk thieves look for the easy target and are not the qoute profesionals, these guys had a slim jim but no screwdriver to unbolt the stereo . The fact that my cover seemed to deter them is amusing. I plan on making a custom cover using an internal plate that will attach directly to the stock mounting tabs. Then another aluminum plate over this with security screws going into tapped holes of the first plate. I don't think I will be having anymore problems. An alarm will only really work if your car is parked somewhere you can hear and react to it fast enough. Fortunatly my driveway is right outside my bedroom window so any chirping from the alarm will wake me up and give me time to react before they can get anything.

I had my stereo stolen while it was parked outside my window at my apartment.

They tore up the inside of the car getting the stereo, amp and 10 disc CD changer.

I replaced it and got an alarm. A couple of weeks later I went to the car after a soccer game and the passenger door was slightly open. Someone had forced the lock, opened the door and ran away when the alarm went off.

Alarms will stop some people. They'll get nervous and run off.

I had a friend that checked into getting a alarm then had his car stolen within a couple of weeks after pricing the alarm. Coincidence?

Something else I learned. Never show off your stereo. Turn down the stereo before you get too close to home.

I always try to do that. The cousin of an X girlfriend had me crank up my stereo so he could see how it sounded. A couple hours later he and the stereo was gone.

True, true. I always try to keep mine turned down around home(also helps not pissing off the neighbors). I think that the reason my cd player was stolen the second time was because my brother kept being stupid and playing his subs right in front of the house. They stole his subs. I dont/didnt even have subs at this point in time. I think they came back to check to see if he had got replacements from the insurance company and it turned out he was out of town and my car was sitting there with a cd player in it. They tried to break into the trunk but couldnt so at least they didnt get my amp.
