The way I built my box I can fit my 12 disc changer and the amp underneth in the pit where the t-tops go(I don't have them, so don't need the space). My box sits right on top across the little ledges to either side.
To get good sounding bass, get the box as close to the sealed space specs that the speakers come with. My box is about 2.5 cubic feet inside and my speakers are speced at needing ~1.25 of sealed space each. The inside is totally hollow, so the 2 subs share the same air space, but since they are briged, they both pull on it at the same time so it works out. I tried mounting the subs so they fired straight up once, but since I angled them forward, I think the bass is a lot cleaner.
You can check out the box on the second page of my cardomain site. I plan to carpet the bottom and sides of it and put vinyl on the top with the chevy bowtie in-between the speakers.

not that worried about it. I agree with what someone said about that, "They can see your plate when you drive down the street anyway, so what's it matter?" I figure that with the way I play my stereo, they're gonna know that I put some work into it anyway, so screw it.
