We had a DVD setup in out 96 TA. Works nice, would have to look for a couple pics.
Your not gunna cut the panal behind the Z28 emblem to mount flush are ya? Because it wont fit, Venting ect. is behind there. If u get the DVD Shuttle u can mount it under the dash extention and it looks sweet there.

I've got a 1 DIN DVD player that I'm going to put into the dash where the center AC vents are... if I ever get around to it.

If u got any exp installing systemes then it would be pretty simple for ya to do.
Origanaly w took out the 1.5 din stock deck and customed in a 2 din set up with the monitor on top and a DVD/CD player mounted in under it, but we had over heating problems so we removed the CD/DVD player and used a standard mounting kit to drop it to a 1 din.
Then we got a DVD/MP3/CD shuttle and mounted it were the glove box was. We took out the glove box and fabricated a panal that looked stock to mount the shuttle into, and it does look likes it came there from the factory.
Now here the law's dont allow the driver to watch the movie's, so its got head phones for the passengers that allow them to here the movie while it getting play'd and the driver can listen to the radio at the sametime, or u can run the movie over the whole system like most peeps do anyways
We hooked up a remote under the center console so that we could still use the steering wheel controls. We added an Phoenix Gold LPL and Bass Cube.
All speakers were four 6.5"/1"tweet MB Quart componet speakers and a 10" MB Quart PWD 254 SubWoofer powered by a Phoenix Gold Octane Limited Edition #13 of 500 amp. Its completly set up for Sound Quality but still hit 137.1 db in SPL( not bad for one 10" sub
) on the single run we took it through.
If u want more info feel free to pm me and I'll answer any questions that i can. I have done lots of installs but unfortunetaly have very few pics to show.

Man that's really cool. I don't think I have the experience needed to fabricate a panel like that though.
I'm trying to understand what you meant by mounting a remote so that you could still use the steering wheel controls.

I was wondering if something like that existed, because I'd like to keep my steering wheel controls if I change my deck. So what you're saying is it basically maps the steering wheel buttons to send a signal to a remote reciever? So as far as the deck knows it recieved a signal from the remote to turn the volume up or what-have-you? Is it programmable so that it works with any remote or is it deck-specific?

I don't have a DVD player, yet, but I do have the screen and PSone in, to give you an idea of possible screen location.

I have a DVD and Screen but it was installed on the roof. It is meant to be on the roof, the system I got I mean. It has lights, and a DVD drive, but also has a setup for video games which I tell you really shuts up the boys on long drives (And I am not talking kids, I am talking friends. 20 y/r old kids really) I like it because I cannot hear whats going on (headphones for them) and it keeps them quiet so I can focus on my favorite part of owning a Camaro (Driving!).
