Trust me, it's worth it to learn, and it's not terribly hard. You'll save lots. Just do searches and ask questions.

If you know anything about electronics, it shouldn't be a problem putting all that stuff in. Just read the directions, and read the message boards for info like running power and signal on different sides of the car.

You'll wind up saving probably 400-500 bux on install costs. Good luck, and if you need anything, you know where to ask!

Also, always remember to unhook the battery before doing any of that, lol. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ POW is not a sound that you want to hear, lol.

The alt really wont need to be upgraded unless you're going to be pushing tons of power unless you know it's on the way out. But a stock one will usually handle most basic systems fine.

Well, I've got the big alternator in my car (was in it when I bought the car), and it idles at about 14.4 That's better than stock, so even at idle the amps I have are receiving 14.4 (which means they'll turn out more power to the speakers.

I'm sure the stock alternator is just fine, and for the price of the heftier alternator, take that into consideration.

I just finished my system which sounded exactly like what you want. I've done simple radio and speakers before, but this was my first major install. Everything went smoothly, just take your time. You'll get a better sense of accomplisment if you do it your self.

BTW- here's a link to the thread showing pics and descriptions. I have a 140 amp alternator. I got it mostly for looks(chrome) because i did up my engine bay, but I wouldn't live without it now.https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=187178
