What should my crossover on my amp be set to?
What should my crossover on my amp be set to?
Well, I had a little incodent with water and had to reprogram my cd player, so I figured I might as well fine tune my amp as well. I have a Rockford 360a2 powering 1 12" JL WO in a bandpass box. These are the specs I got on the amp- Variable crossover- HP-Full-LP 12db per octave from 50-210 Hz. Also it is a 4ohm sub, so the amp is running at 4 ohms. Also I have a JVC KD SH77 cd player and it has a bunch of frequencies and such that can be adjusted as well. I had it tuned nicely before I had to disconnect my battery, now I just cant seem to get it to sound right. All of my speakers are running of the headunit, the front 4x6's and the rear 6x9's. The cutoff frequency should be set to low correct? I just cant figure out what the low frequencies and such should be set to. Maybe someone who has this cd player and a simular setup can help?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot.

trial and error. There's no magic number that makes it all sound great. If there was, the stuff would just come pre-programmed that way.
In my IROC I've got 6.5" components up front, so I run an 80hz crossover frequency between those and my subs.
In my GTA and my Jimmy, I've got smaller 4x6 speakers, so I run a high-pass frequency of around 150hz... but I still run an 80hz low pass on the subs. That results in a sh*tty sounding frequency gap, but it's the best comprimise I could make in that case. I can't run the 4x6s any lower, and if I go any higher on the bass it sounds lousy. Unfortunately, any car that uses tiny front speakers is going to result in certain comprimises.
