Iam not really into systems but iwant something that will sound nice and hit pretty hard so i was thinking of putting 2 10in rockford fosgate subs in the back of my camaro. just putting 2 subs back there doesn't mean anything. It could sound good, it could sound terrible. The box, the amp, the source unit, the accompanying speakers and most importantly the install all have a major contribution on the sound quality.

Personally I think that bass through rockford subs sounds pretty similar to a retard banging on a folding chair, but others will probably disagree.

Generally I always like to preach quality over quantity too. Spending more on 1 good sub will give you better sound quality (and in many cases louder output) than 2 cheaper subs.

Your amp needs to be sufficient enough to power the sub(s)

Your source unit needs to be of good enough quality to send a good signal to the speakers. Garbage in = garbage out.

Bass is just a very small part of the equation. A booming car with junk speakers still sounds bad.

No problem. Just go listen to some Rockford subs and you'll know how it sounds.

I have to say I have had good results from the fosgate subs I have used in the past but there was always a back seat to filter out the crap so who knows what the would have sounded like in the hatch. Well except for the 12" HE's I had in my TA but they crapped out pretty quickly so I am going back to the one 12W3 I have that is still good. (the other had a screwed up surround that eventually killed the voice coil)

LMFAO how true

for a couple good priced 10's for daily use that can get loud and sound good at the same time i would look into a set ID10's. u can find them for like $110 each at http://sounddomain.com.

I would say that good is a relative term. However if you are on a budget it's not a bad way to go.

Summit has pretty good prices, don't bother with Walmart, I had bought some 6'9's for my Pioneer DEH-1500. and I blew them both, only cost me $50, but why waste it
spend the extra $30-$40 and just get some regular sony ones or sumthin, least they wont blow out

There's nothing wrong with that. If you aren't able to hear the difference between that and good stuff, there's no sense in wasting money on the good stuff.

Well, since he is looking for reccomendations, I would reccomend 1/2 Kicker Solobaric L7's. Just one of those in a wedge Q-Logic sounded amazing at the audio shop I was at. He had it hooked up to a Kicker KX800.2 amp.

I have had good experience with Rockford Fosgate amps, (they are one of the few that I have found that are close to the wattage they claim lol) but their subs really do suck. I bought a setup for my girlfriend's Z-24, a RF 200M amp & 12" RF Punch Z sub; and dumped the sub in a month for Kicker stuff

My 2-c-... well, maybe more
