My Vote WOULD be for an Elemental Designs sub but I'd go with a Brahma since ED isn't on your list
what a shame
My E12A rocks. Now only If I can get a amp for it thats worthy.

cool someone else who has an ed sub. I have a 12A also, getting ready to put it in a 1.5 cu ft ported box. got the glasing done now I need to build the port.
On your list I would look at the brahma or the ID max. both are very good and very capable subs. what kindda power are you willing to give? also are you running for midbass? and what kind of box?

But I'm getting ready for a REAL amprrack and box. I had my amps mounted to a loose particle board and my sub in a Wal-Mart 1.25cu box I had lying around.
I'm surprised the sub didn't blow the box apart.I'm thinking about ordering either a Stealthbox or a Convertible Flush Box from subthumb.com
I've had the sub for like 9 months and I still haven't built a bow, so I think I should buy one cuase obvioulsy the time to build one isn't happening anytime soon.
I also am thinking about the rear wall mount amprack if I get the stealthbox. But I think I'm leaning towrward to the convertable box and having the sub off to one side and mount an amp on the other. I could put my other amp on an inverted spare tire.

Those who suggest Elemental Designs feel free to comment as well; I'm not limited to my list.
I love the way my e12A sounds. I had it in a 1.1 cu ft box with around 600 watts. It sounded very nice, was very smooth and offers a very full response. While it can be loud it sounds best to me at moderate levels and imo there is no need for tons of power. Most run it with 500-800 watts and are happy with the output.

Brahma
Personally, I gotta go with the Brahma. I got one B12 in a 2.5 cube box tuned to 30 hz, and love it. Two thumbs up and then some to Adire Audio. I only wish more people knew about them, cause to most people, if it aint rockford, kicker, or audiobahn, its crap. If only they knew what was out there.

ouch, you're making it way too hard for me to choose. all of those are great choices and you'll be very happy with all of them. make sure you got the power to run em. i have the type-r (would have been a toss up between the shiva's if i knew about em when i bought the sub) and very happy. brahma is just an unbelievable sub, and the IDMAX is a killer one as well.
Like others before, I picked the Brahma as well since you didn't list Elemental Designs. Arguably the Brahma is a better sub, but not for the value you can get from ED. But I'm biased: I picked up an Elemental Designs e15SP subwoofer (my dream sub!!
) for my system but it was damaged in shipping so I'm forced to deal with FedEx right now instead of planning the install. So pi$$ed off...
Regardless, the quality you get in either of those subs makes them a very worthwhile purchase. They'll still sound excellent at half the power that they're rated for and you don't have to worry about eventually upgrading your system. If you feel the need, swap out the amp for one with more kick and change the enclosure accordingly. Very versatile.
That said, Adire's Shivas are said to be right at the top as far as "best bang for your buck" goes. I personally haven't heard them so I couldn't say one way or the other, but that company certainly has a quality-first attitude. I won't make any friends here by saying it, but I'd steer way from the Alpines. Good subs in their own right, they're just being outclassed these days. If you want the mainstream answer, go with something from JL.

I get tired of people saying "Dude, you have it full blast and theres NO DISTORTION!"
oh wait, no I don't
or "If you turn that up anymore, I'm going to have a orgasism"
oh wait, that neither...
I can't wait to get a real amp for my E12A

the W7 isn't bad either...I remember when I was a NewBe and based my opinion of JL on the w0 series
that most people had setup wrong in the first place (gain's are not volume controls
)Other than JL or maybe the Type-R's, I'd stay away from mainstream cuase no matter what theres always a time when advertizing will increase the price and you can get a sub that preforms the same, if not better from companies like eD and Adire whos main concern is quality control and customer service!

I might have to start another thread between the winner of this poll and Elemental Designs...

im surprised no one has mentioned resonant engineering yet, their HC sub is great for SQ and SPL, www.respl.com check it out.
it is just as good if not better than the brahma in my opinion.

treos higher end equipment doesnt have too much SQ to it from my experiences. I have 2 resonant engineering xxx18s waiting to be thrown into my camaro, and i highly recommend them. RE has great prices and customer service. Also their advertised prices are not always the real prices, there are often unadvertised sales that can only be found out when you call them directly.
Out of the choices on your poll i would choose the Brahma. Mainly because i have a lot of experience with Adire products and have been impressed every time. Also it requires such a small box you can be very creative with the install. The IDMAX is also a very capable sub but i dont have any experience with it yet so i cant comment.

the JBL 1200 is a great amp for the money
you could also look into products from:
autotek
hifonics
orion (a bit pricey but excellent quality)
zapco
those are just a couple of my favourites

The JBL 1200.1 is exactly what I had in mind actually.
Think that amp would be okay for 2 Brahmas?
