harness questions

Ok, some of you may know I got my cd player stolen last tuesday.
Now 89Redbird is gonna give me his stock radio to me cuase he got a new one.

My problem is the only connector is the aftermarket one for a JVC. Its spliced into the factory harness cause my harness was trashed and the factory connector was cut off. Do they make a "reverse harness" that i can plug into the aftermarket connecter then into the stock radio?

Will a '89 radio work in my '85? His is a formula and I have a TA.

Any other suggestions on how to make this work?

Thanks,

Matt

You can get the harness your talking about and they are called a "reverse harness”.

NEEDAZ: Thanks!

Would places like Best Buy or Circuit City carry them, or would I need to go to Car Tunes or something?

jcurrieirocz: I would get the original harness, but there aren't many any thirdgens in junkyards in my area. Most are already completely stripped or stacked to be crushed. Also, my factory harness is far from stock, there is a lot of speaker wire in there, the factory wires aren't really used.

I am not getting the harness from 89redbird, only the radio.

Thanks,

Matt

it doesn't need to be from a thirdgen and as far as the speaker wire situstion goes just replace where you would put the factory conection with the speaker wires

thats cool man but yah gm used the same plugs and decks in pretty much all there cars around that same year...i qarantee youd find one no matter what junkyard you go to. But yah eather way i think you should cut it out and wire it up right, especially if there are speaker wires and cr@p in there. Ive seen how some my previous owners wired there decks up and its ususlly never done the right way. but it is your car man so whatever you want to do.

Thanks,

Matt
