I want to invest in some high quality subs, that are extreamly loud and clear to put in the fiberglass box I have in my hatch, (fills the complete well) So something that would need alot of air space, sealed sounds good to me because I just want a tight clean sounding bass line. So here are some of the brands I'm looking at for subs...

Infinity Kappa
JL
Rockford Fosgate
Alpine

of those choices, i'd go with alpine type-r's unless you're talking big bucks like the w6v2's or w7. when you start getting up there in money, go with adire audio brahma instead. adire shivas are good low cost subs or look into elemental designs subs. many good choices that arent necessarily well known, but better quality and less expensive.

they rock and i can sell them relatively cheap.

ok, if your going for a quality setup, you got to do it right?
whats the internal volume of your box? you cant just throw any sub in anybox and expect it to slam and sound good.

and for the poll, it would probably be a better idea to say how much money you are willing to spend total on your system. Or how much you can budget for each item.

JL is far superior to the others on the list, but there top of the line equpment is just that and you pay for it. There are many other good brands out there for a better price.

check into:

adire audio- www.adireaudio.com
elemental deisgn - www.edesignaudio.com
resonant engineering- www.respl.com
stereo integrity - www.stereointegrity.com
onyx mobile audio - www.onyxmobileaudio.com
treo engineering - www.treoonline.com
stryke - www.stryke.com

...just some ideas, all have subs to par with jl's w7 for a lot less

"You are bidding on the website where you can buy JL W7 subwoofers for only $50. This is not the real thing it is just the website. It worked for me it can work for you. This website also contains many other items but the biggest item is the JL W7!!! BUY NOW WHILE THE OFFER LASTS!!! "

that was the description from your ebay link. i personally wouldnt even try it. i always think those are a scam.

lol yea, I was almost tempted but... for a W7? and in Canada? I'm sure to lose my money. Isnt there some kind of insurance on paypal accounts or ebay bids? Or is it just designed as a place to view items and make your own decision if you trust the seller? I would think they would run into law suits, but good luck trying to get a suit against canada, far to complicated. Oh, anyone know the retail price from JL that they tag on a single W7 ?

paypal shouldnt have to protect you from your own stupidity.

if the website plainly states that you are buying "the website where you can buy a w7" then, if he gives you a link that is anywhere near what is claimed, then he has come through on his most likely shady deal.

sealed boxes dont necessarily give you tighter bass. A ported box should give you more output (louder), and if the sub is designed to be in a ported application it will be tighter ported aswell.

in my opinion ported is always better

i would look into some adire audio products, or Resonant engineering, Elemental Designs, Digital Designs, or Eclipse.

it seems to me almost everyone i know has alpine, JL, or RF its better to be different and louder.

If you find a deal that's too good to be true...it probably is.

Read the fine print on every eBay auction and don't buy from people with low or bad feedback.

For subs, check out an IDMax or Adire Brahma. Those brands listed are, I consider, good quality subs, but not high quality. Granted JL has the W7 and such. Give more of an idea of what kind of music you listen too, a real price range, airspace in the box, availible power. With this info we might be able to give you a better idea of what would work well for you.

Dont waste your money on Rockford, here's why...

There are two types of sound systems:

1. A system thats load, but focuses on quality

2. A boom box

RF's are fine if you want a boom box (which features a lot of loudness, but not alot of quality).

I have 2 JL 12w0's in my Lumina. They might not be super huge competition speakers, but I love them. They don't require tons of power, yet they sound very awesome. Check in my vote for JL.
