who wants one???

I am strongly considering building enclosures for the rear well again. i am thinking about doing mdf and fiberglass, but i need some input on how many people would like some. let me know by either posting here, pm me, or email me.

Do a search under his name and the word "roof"

Seriously, just to prove how good his boxes are, he dropped one from the roof of his house.

We kept trying to talk him into setting it on fire first, but he wouldn't.

i didnt want to burn the house down. a box that size would make a pretty large flame . oh and by the way, i think it was dropped about 6 times. its kinda hard to get a quick picture using a digital camera.

to answer your question, my boxes will basically look like any other boxes you will find custom made for the 3rd gens. i can maybe customize it some, but it just depends on what you are looking for. like he said, just do a search and you should find some info and probably a pic or 2.

here is a pic of the box in my car. the basic boxes will not look like this. they are more flush with the ledge. it does however give you an idea of what kinda work i can do.

jacob

p.s. this box may be for sell soon. you would have to have the kicker solos but its a good box if you do. let me know if you are interested in it.

i am going to have to see what price is gonna look like on supplies for the fiberglass boxes. i have set the price on uncovered basic mdf boxes at $100 plus shipping. i dont yet know what price on covering will be but i will try to get an estimate soon. i also plan to get a website up and running in the near future. it will probably be after christmas and maybe new year's. we will have to see on that. if i get enough interest on boxes, i might be able to lower the price alittle. let me know what you are looking for and i will try and accomadate everyone that i can.

Just to say that this guy does make good boxes. I've seen previous posts and pictures of the wooden boxes that he has made and they are all cut to fit with perfection. So if your unsure on the work, just as my own opinion I'm writting a good review for the kind of work that I have seen so far. If I didnt already have a box and didnt want to make one, I would come to this guy first. If the price isnt exactly in your range you should ask yourself, do you really want to take a chance on a cheap box from ebay or some flea market sale and end up with something cheap that will end up falling apart or rattling aventually then have to buy a new one and end up spending more money anyway? lol Better off getting the quailty stuff and not having to learn the hard way.

Do you have a web site yet Tamu? Maybe a freebe site that allows sales on their page? I would say if there wernt to many here that were to buy boxes then you could get a site, submit it to several search engines and expand your side project into a side job that would pull in more income. If you want a site that is a little more personalized and looks the way you want, I could give a hand with the HTML if you dont know it to well. Easy stuff once you find the time to look into how its designed. I'm not asking for anything to do that, I just like making web pages

Carpet shrinking?
</font>
I was wondering how carpet is molded to boxes with curves on it, and really wondering where you got that <font color=blue>3D</font> carpet bird from. lol that rocks something hardcore man! I was thinking maybe you have to buy a special kind of carpet then use a heat gun to shrink parts of it to mold it to the curves. Actually I'm sure thats posible but is it the easiest way?

i do not have a site yet, but i am working on that as we speak. i dont think ill need any help with it because my brother knows that stuff pretty well. i will keep you in mind though.

as far as carpeting the box, what i do is just cover the top of the box. you only see the top of the box anyways and you dont have to worry about all the curves and stuff around the bottom of the box. i dont know about shrinking the carpet, especially w/ a heat gun that could catch the carpet on fire or something like that.

as far as the 3D bird, i made it. and nobody ask how i made it either. if everybody knows, then everyone would be doing it and then it wouldnt be original at all. although if anyone wants something like that done, i could probably work something out there.

Oh man that is one sweet *** sub box. Even if you decide not to make them for people on here due to lack of interested, I'd probably pay you twice as much just to get you to do one for me man. Lemme know whatcha wanna do.

I would be interested. I have searched this topic many times and I never seem to find the right box. That looks just like what I have in mind for (2) w6 jl's but is there enough air space for them? I would like to get a price. Thanks, Brannon

I'm in Channelview now, goin' to San Jac Central in the GM program. I've got family that lives in Somerville and Brenham. Once you decide on a price, I'd like to take a look at 'em. I'd be interested!

i appreciate everyones interest in my boxes. unfortunately, i just took on a second job a couple of weeks ago. i already didnt really have the time to do it, but now i really, really dont. i will be transisting into my new job, hopefully within the next 2-4 weeks and then quiting my current job. if that happens, i will have loads of time to make boxes, not to mention all the work needed on my own car. if anyone can wait that long i would be happy to accomidate all that can.

thanks again,
jacob

Hey Jacob, that's good news about the job I was wondering, would it be possible to have a fiberglass top that could be painted with a gloss (semi-gloss, or any paint for that matter)? You know, something smooth like the Q-Logic enclosures. I'd really like something that's not carpeted that shows off that it's fiberglass, and would like to know how doable that is.

Wow, that box with the L7's in it is absolutely beautiful!! I want to get new subs soon, so if you're planning on doing this for awhile (I hate building boxes) maybe we can get in touch?! How much for a box with the screaming chicken in it?? Just carpet is fine too btw. I'll have a cargo cover over it most of the time...

PM or email (meagan.dishart@earthlink.net) plz ... I'm really interested!!

Since he hasn't even made a post at thirdgen.org since February, I'm going to guess that he's probably not going to be able to respond to this anyway, soooo... I'll hijack the thread and mention that I can still build boxes, although my prices are higher than I believe his were.

I've got some seriously old and outdated pics at http://iroc.fbody.com/subwoofer.html.

Hopefully over the winter I'll have a chance to start developing some different custom drop-in boxes too.

Q-logics are right around 300 and they look stock and match interior almost perfectly MDF is not expensive, and the labor required is NOT that intensive to warrent a $200 or $250 price tag on making a box like that......I know your a mod and all but I don't think thats very nice.
