Damn't! Really Confused
Damn't! Really Confused
I'm really confused about what a salesperson had to say today. I'm by no means a car audio expert, but I thought that if you wire two 4ohm speakers to a 2 channel amp, without bridging it, you'll be creating a 2ohm load on the amp. I don't want to bridge the amp, because I still want my stereo sound (i'm talking about 6x9's). They told me if I want stereo sound, i'd only be getting a 4 ohm load on the amp, giving me less power.
I want to know whats the best way to wire my speakers to a 2 channel amp, to get the most power, but maintaining the stereo sound.
Can someone point me to a diagram or something that can help me? I don't care if it was a 30 sec job in MS paint lol I just need some help.

"Less power"?? As opposed to what? Did he want you to buy TWO amps, one for each speaker, so you could run each amp at 2 ohm load?? No wonder you were confused- his answer would've confused ME, and I like to think I know this stuff pretty well.
Yeah you were wrong (about the load), but the salesman was an idiot for saying what he did. "You'll get less power" is the wrong answer, sounds like he was trying to make "more money" from you. Don't go back to that store!
Thanks for clearing things up. Every web site i've been to showed how to either wire speakers in parallell, or in series, and for some reason I didn't think there was another way
.
. there arent, but you dont always bridge the amplifier.
you can bridge the amp into either a series circuit, or a parrallel circuit,
if you bridge it into the subs wired in series, the amp sees the same amount of resistance as if the subs were wired directly One per channel.
if you bridge it into a parrallel circuit, then the amplifier sees 1/4 of the resistance as the layout above.
example, 2ohm stereo= 4 ohm mono (bridged)
4ohm stereo=8 ohm mono, etc.
