Need help with 6x9 mounting depth

Okay my system is: Eclipse 8053 deck, Eclipse 4x6's, Eclipse 6x9's, both powered by an Eclipse EA3422 amp, 2 Kicker Comp 12's powered by a Rockford punch 250 with a 1/2 Farad Lightning Audio cap.

Okay, knowing that, I think my 6x9's are on their way out, and I wanted to get something even a little better. I wanted the Eclipse Point Source series, but the mounting depth on those is like 3 7/16", and in my Crutchfield catalog, it says I only have 3" of mounting depth, and my car is two hours away from me in storage. Can anybody verify the mounting depth for me, please? Also, as long as I will be changing those up, is there anything better I can do with the factory baffles? Another thought is, what would it take to mount a pair of 8's and some tweeters? The new Eclipse 4-ways are nice, but I'm trying to come up with something a little better.

Thanks for the input,

Eric

Not sure of the spec off hand, but you could always make a spacer out of wood.

you could make a thicker mounting plate as the one in our cars is like less then a 1/4" thick. But if you make a thinker plate youll need to modify the cover some as youll run into clearance problems there.

The factory baffle is pretty flimsy so id amagin if you push the 6x9s in hard enoght youll get them in there were only talking less then a 1/2' so its no biggy. Id leave the baffles in there tho.

Your in luck right now my car is in the garage with the 6x9 out of it with my covers already off so i could measure it for you BUT i got all my wheels off the can and the cars only being held up with 2 jack stands and one jack under the rear end in the middle so intill the wheels go back on tomorow then i cant help yah.....ill try and get back to you tomorow.

I'm running 3/4 inch MDF plates under my 6.5" components in the rear sailpanels with no clearance problems. Does it make the plastic push out a bit? yeah. Does it hurt anything? not at all. You couldn't tell mine wasn't stock if you sat in the backseat

ok i measured them ....and looks like 3inches is about right if you got a usual larger round magnet on it but if its like a smaller kenwood like magnet a 3.5" deep will be ok....know what i mean. Its only because the baffle is on an angle back there so the larger round the magnet on the speaker the less chance it will fit in. If worst comes to worst you can cut a notch in the baffle to make room for the corner of the magnet.
I now realize theres no give to it so pushing it in wont work to well. If you notched the baffle youll get an extra 1"-1 1/2" back there. Id buy em and try em if they dont fit you can 1 notch the baffle (witch is not too bad as the baffle has like 2 holes in it anyhow) or 2 you can use a 3/4 mdf plate. And you may be lucky if the magnets not that big round theyll fit in fine w/o moding anything.

Thanks, that sounds like a good plan.
