i got 6 and halfs stuck in them factory brackets temporarily and didnt need any mods to make em fit.
they do stick up further then the 4x6s would but dont hold up my dash pad any its weird.
when i got the car they had some 4 inch or 3 inch or something lil round 2 way speakers stuck in there that were trashed.

Just for your info.

The infinity 4X6's WILL NOT FIT under the dash. I tried to swap out my JL 4X6's and they would not fit.

Only if you have air conditioning. It's because of the location of the magnet.

And I still have 4x6's, until I get 4th gen door panels. They I can finally have comps!! w00t w00t!!

hrm... I don't see how that's possible... because I have the Infinity Kappa 4x6 Plates... as well as Air Conditioning... and they were installed no problem... the guys at the custom audio shop said that they didn't need to modify a n y t h i n g...

I dont think that you'd want anything or really need anything larger than a 4x6. those speakers would mainly be used for treble, seeing as how its reflecting off of the glass into your face, if you try to take advantage of a larger speaker cone, it really wont make a difference, first because of the poor install enviroment not providing somewhat of a seal behind it to provide a box and make 'mid bass' sound, and that it wouldn't be heard if you were sitting up front (mid bass) but rather if you were crawled up in a little ball in the very back hatch area because of the acoustical enviroment which always happens ie. have a subwoofer in a square sealed room in one corner, go to opposite corner to hear most bass.

cheers

Blake

With a good amp you can get 'some' good bass out of those 4x6's... I can feel the music in my feet if I just use the kappas and nothing else.
