no rear seats, what should i do....
Have a hard top 1990 iroc, starting to think of my speaker plans. I took out my rear seats because i only want my car to be a 2 seater anyways. The sound system is going to be purely for my own enjoyment, i am putting in 2 10" subs. I listen to mainly rock music both classic rock and newer rock so the most important things i want from the subs is to be able to feel the base drums in the song.
I'm wondering if im better off putting them in the trunk as it is a good space, or if i should put them right behind me so i can feel the base pumping right into the back of my chair. Should the boxes be ported or non ported for that style of music? What should i do?

Only two tens? Put them in the rear well. Replacing the back seat with two tens is a waiste and looks ghetto, also the rear hatch refexes bass right towards the front of the car.

first of all yes only 2 10's i dont need a ton of base for the music i listen too and i dont want anything too heavy. Its also not really replacing the back seats, as of right now theres no rear seats in my car anyways, so that is just space open to me. I know the glass reflects base but since im using a small system would there be no advantage to having it pumping right into the back of my chair because i really want that feeling of the base drum to go right through you

if thats the feeling you're goin for, you still wanna put the subs in the well. the reason for this has to do with the nice "trick" that hatchbacks do for bass. because lower frequencies are longer wavelengths, it takes a longer distance to full develop. by having the subs in the back, the distance between your ears and the subs is longer, allowing the lower frequencies to develop more and be fuller. i had a long day of work, so correct me if i'm wrong Jim

Why two ten's? Just go with one- especially if, as you say, you don't want a lot of bass. My buddy has gotten amazing bass out of just one 10" sub! Do a system up with one 10" sub- and here's the key- don't buy a cheap $100 amp. Spend $200 on an amp, something with a low pass crossover and bass boost, and you'll get amazing sound too. Spend $90 on a "wonder-amp" without any adjustability, and you won't be happy.
Here's a good amp for you; and if you decide you really really want a second 10" sub later, you can still use the same amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xalJnoW...=0&cc=01&avf=N

I'm mostly a rock person too, but I was like" I have to fill the other hole." As long as you get a good deck, you can controll the ammount of bass that comes out. I have a Apine 7894 and it has the ability to adjust the amount of bas I want. So it works for me, and I did not want to have the look of an unfinished system.

i dont think you'll want to do a wall if you arent a total basshead. Walling 2 10s isnt that big of a deal, ive walled one inhuman 10 with 5000watts and a huge voltage drop and got a 153.1 legal off of an old termpro mic. Although because the box was tuned so high it didnt play music too well.
i would say just go with one ten and a decent amp and focus all your time one box design and construction.
