I need to replace the subs in my car and was thinkin of puttin in either three GT120D, two GT150D, or posibly two GTO1220. I want to hit hard and put up some impressive numbers (at a high school level atleast,Last years winner-143.1) I realize theres a lot more physics and electronics to it than the subs. but the time and money isnt there to get too hardcore into it....yet.
Any suggestions would be great

Ive got JBL subs, for get the numbers for them, but i did only hit 132.1 in my car. But i know my amp barely has enough to match thier RMS of 325, so i know they can do better.


And if u havent seen the mag on these, they are pretty good size subs, they are just over rated with the 1000watt thing, ive pushed one with the 720, and it didnt distort at all, but was really moving ^_^, these subs do have a good look while they are hitting

your amp sucks, i bet if you put 300W of clean power, they would hit harder and sound better.

LoL thanks for craping on my $135 amp, i know its bad and i wish i had time to barrow my friends kenwood 800 to really test these subs out more.

you should be able to find an MTX 421D or similar for WELL under 200 locally.

But seriously, replacing that amp with a better one will really help your numbers.

I figure the $ was not there at the time of the purchase.

The kenwood amp will help a little, but still won't break any records. You need real power to get high SPL numbers.

I had a pair of old-school JBL subs (the ones with the paper pulp cones and inverted dust caps), and the guy I sold them to powered them with an old-school Lanzar amp (back when they had the same sort of quality that Rockford once had) and those things pounded HARD. 140dB wasn't out of the question.

getting a W7 or MTX thunder 95000 in a few weeks, and a new amp to power one or the other. That should satisfy clearity, and do 140+ with out too much problems. I saw some mild W7 systems hitting 145+
