Pics of my new un-boxed sub setup

Thats right i did it again. If you remember i had my firebird subs mounted to a piece of wood that went across the top of the rear well. I was going to fully enclose this one but decided to try it this way instead seeing as how the very bottom of the well came out to the exact airspace i needed. ANd i tell you what this sucker thumps. Definately louder than the birds was

I used 3/4" mdf for the "plate then took a piece of 2"x 1/4" steel and bent it to fit the countours of my rear piece then tig welded a piece of metal to that to hold the amp down so if i have to i can yank the wires and pull the hole system out in one piece. The board fits super tight in here and doesnt seem to really leak any air the bottom of the palte on the front and back has 1x1's attached for more strength

The amp came with that remote bass deal which i want to mount into the ashtray in the back of the console but want to fab up a plate so it wont show so temporarily i mounted it in teh tool storage deal in the back so its hidden and the wiring runs to it form the underside so thats hidden too.

It looks good, as long as you are happy with it that is all that matters. It looks way clean.

Oh man I missed the part about its only a board! Take it out and make a box asap! It will sound MUCH better that way. If you dont wanna deal with mdf you can use fiberglass. Your two subs are not gonna sound as good the way they are now then one sub in a enclosure.

I would definitely enclose it, but it definitely looks like a good clean job. It just has much more potential as far as sound goes.

It's one of those things that you have to hear to believe. It reall is one of the best sounding systems i've done and all the others have been fully enclosed. It sounds extremely clean and definately hits deep. Few weeks after graduation and stuff i'm taking it to have it tested and i'm gonna make sure they test it legally.

i've known 2 different fbody owners that switched to infinite baffle after having an enclosed box in the rear.. and both of them were happy with the results.

accoustically it's not as good, but for most schmoe's its just fine and they don't sound that bad at all.

I cases where you have an actual trunk and can do IB they sound really good. They aren't loud compared to a box but the sound pretty good when done right.
