my setup (Q-logic)

It's been a good while since i've posted :-/ but I figured I'd show off what I finally decided on. Currently I have all sony.. and I know that I should've done better.. but hey we all make mistakes haha. The way I describe it is it sounds better than a factory system.. but not much beyond that.

Anyway, here's the install. (excuse the wires in the back I still need to hide them..)

I will be slowly upgrading the subs/speakers as I get more $$. But I like the overall look of the Q-logics with my interior.

(The 6x9's are also upgraded.)

the install looks good. take it from me im an installer for circuit city. you did a sweet job, and the q-logics do look good. your only down fall is the fact that you went with sony. that "600w" amp actually ony sustanse at abou 250-300 watts. and the xplode series speakers arent the greatest. heres what you do, swap out your subs for some jl w6, then swap your amps to a xtant1001 and an xtant 4channel, and swap the interior for alpine type S, or, R. now were talking making your ears bleed.

nice install though, and good luck

Screwing all that stuff to your trunk floor was a VERY bad idea. Your gas tank is only about 1/2" to 3/4" below that floor. Even if the screws didn't puncture it already, they will if you get into a bad enough accident.

I would strongly suggest you find a different way to mount your amps & other stuff.

Ok I didn't realize that it was that close.. the screws on the capacitor are quite long... what if I did puncture it?

A lot of people use strips of Velcro to fasten their amps, etc. Cheap, easy and effective.

Uh-oh...

If you did puncture it (I'm sure you did), first thing to do is thank *** almighty or whatever you believe in that the screw and metal tank didn't create a spark as you drilled it in. When that's done, find some way to oil the screws and remove them SLOWLY! You'll probably have to drop the tank to patch the holes, or just get a nice new baffled, plastic tank from a fourth gen.

Besides the tank problem, you dont want your amps screwed down to the cars metal with metal screws. Mount the amps to a wooden board, then secure the board down to the car.

True, true. I forgot all about that. Don't want to cause a ground loop.

I love the way the Q-logics look. How does it sound?Does it have a lot of bass?I'm ready to order my sub box and I don't want one of those cheesy looking carpeted boxes that everybody else has.

good news guys.. I unscrewed everything (carefully!) and haven't smelled gas. Also when I unscrew the fuel cap pressure the is released.. meaning there shouldn't be any punctured spots(or there would be no pressure..). The longest screws on the capacitor had some what of a buffer with the height of the bracket.. so I think my biggest threat was a speed bump or a wreck. Thanks for the heads up though! I'll try to get some new pics once I hide the wires.

i want to know WTF that "phase cone" is in the middle of your mid driver.

i put a piece of 3/4" mdf under the carpet above the gas tank, and use short screws, that way, you can put your amps where you want, they dont move around like with velcro, and you dont screw holes in your tank.
