Cheap Amps?
Cheap Amps?
Just wondering. If i got a cheap amp with like 2400W. Could I use it to push my 2 subs that are rated at 350W RMS? I mean I know there is no way that there is actually 2400w there, but could it still push something like that without sounding bad? Thanks

And how it would sound is another..... Probably would still be better off with a quality amp with a lower power rating. The argument could be made that THD would be higher with that amp at a lower level. That would depend on cross over distortion.....

There aren't too many company producing class d amps. Most of those cheap ones use the same board, which I think puts out around 1,000 watts. So... some no-name "1500" or "2500" watt class D amp should still put out an honest 1,000 watts or so.
You can find decent 1,000 watt class D amps for under $200.

Just be sure to leave the lighting rod in the box. If you hook it up, it may pick up a direct hit and actually put out 2400 watts!!

Doesn't really matter if it puts out enough wattage... like someone above said, the distortion is what ruins the sound!!
Trust me, I had a Urban Audioworks 800.2 amp hooked to some Alpine Type S's in a friend's truck... they sounded like Delco 6x9's!!
