Most I seen had the cloth over them. Those don't look stock. Take one out and look at rear of magnet, should say Delco and 10 ohm.

I've never seen the speakers in a 1983 - but they don't look like the stock speakers out my 1989.

I recall that they had light-colored cones, with disintegrated urethane surrounds.
But the other member is right. They should say 'Delco'.

A 'whizzer cone' is not exactly two-way. Two-way would mean woofer and tweeter. If Pioneer is passing this off as two-way, then shame on them.

my 85 had some MTX stockers that looked very similiar to that, it had some extended range sound system.... is there a pos neg terminal or have they been soldered straight to the cone?

I took them out. They had Pioneer on the back.

In fact it's NOT. It's a Pioneer though, but a "whizzer" doesn't make a two way, and pioneer didn't market them that way that I can remember.

since we are on the topic of 2-way... what do you guys think of pioneers new "5-way" speakers?? I wonder because I have some other brand of "4-way" 6x9s... I normally steer clear of these x-way speakers, but I got a sweet deal on 'em...

can a 4mm ultratweeter really play such a different sound than a 6mm tweeter, or a 10mm mid-ranger etc??

1 woofer, 1 tweeter, 3 semi-fake "drivers" that don't produce enough noise to even be audible.

on my "4-ways"... I can hear sound from all but the smallest tweeter...

I tend to think that a 1" tweeter can reproduce most treble frequencies with ease... these companies should work on better midrange response, because that's what I like about home theatre audio, the woofer is like 8", then they have like a 4-5" midrange and then the tweeter... I wish I could fit 3-way components, and actually hear them sound good... but I bet in our cars with the limited component airspace for an enclosure, the 4" would sound the same as the 6.5" woofers... dunno
