I just installed new speakers & they whine like hell

I installed new Pionner speakers front & back & I Dinomated the area where they go, now Im geting a whine from them & it gets louder as I aselerate, so the fastest I go the more I hear it. Now about the same time I noticed that my battery gauge started go go crazy, I mean is not stead the alternator is still charging but the charge is not constant. Do you guys think that maby one thing has to do with the other. I didnt disconect the battery to do the speaker swap so Im thinking that maby I chort sircutied the alternator or something. Any opinions?

I doubt you killed the alternator when you were doing the install. I would check your grounds, it sounds like something is grounding out where it's not suposed to.

I agree with the grounds, but probably a bad ground, not a short to ground. Do anything under the hood? Do anything behind the radio? Or just replaced the speakers? It is possible the voltage problem is related. A bad ground under the hood (engine to chassis/batt to chassis) could make the dash gage give some goofy readings. Check the alt. voltage under the hood with a DMM.
