Spare tire sub

A long time ago, I remember seeing a sub woofer setup that was small and compact enough to sit inside your spare tire. It was not alot of punch, but I am not into that type of thing anyway. I just want a little extra Bass.

I had a piece of MDF that I put in my hatch area with some tubes hidden in the rear compartment area which was fine until I started to go to car shows and all.

NOW, I have an Infinity subwoofer enclosure that sits where my Spare tire was. Since I have 12 inch brake Rotors I could not use the stock spare tire anyway, so I got rid of it. BUT I would like to get an aluminum spare tire which would fit my 12" Rotors, but that means I would have to relocate my sub again to a more conspicuous area.

Any ideas?

John

If you're really not looking for a lot of bass, just something there, you could always go the route of the factory sub and put 6 to 8" midranges in the sails...

uhh anything more conspicous??? well that would be putting it anywhere... i think you meant inconspicous( not obvious). then you could put it in the glove bocks in the back if you wanna do some mods to that area.

Lol. For someone who corrects grammar, you should be able to spell "box".

But he is correct. Try finding some room in other places behind plasitc the plastic peices in our car. Also, a spot might be where your passener would put his/her feet. You could make a "fake wall" there and have a small unseen sub behind it. Just an idea. It wouldnt have to be too large, just enough to fit the sub.

Actually I mean conspicuous, I want to make it inconspicuous. BUt if I have to locate it I worry that it would be more conspicuous...

The sail panel sounds like a good idea, larger sub behind the panel...BUT I am planning something else there

I will come up with something... as long as it does not kill me Thanks for the suggestions...

BTW, Does anyone remember the sub that I am speaking of that fit inside the spare? I remember the tiedown bolt fit on it and everything...

Maybe I am losing my mind and I should be patenting my idea rather than sharing it here .

John.

I had the rectangular one that they sold just like that and it hit "maybe" like an eight.... two nice 6X9s in the back might hit harder... And I had that in 94 so I dont know if you will be able to find a nice one.

i don't know if it would work in your app. It looks deep like it was not meant to be used with a mini spare. I could be wrong but its a thought.
